Hi there fellow GT5 enthusiasts,

I'm interested in a "Build your own GT300" racing series with only a few limitations:
-Production cars only (no RM/Tuner)
-A minimum weight of 1200kg (2646lbs)
-A maximum of 305HP
-Engine Limiter limited to ~80% to keep things realistic (discussable or removable all together)
-Sports soft tires, lower grade might be considered as well

Race events would consist of two heats of about 30min with a qualification for the first and reverse grid on the second. In order to keep competition tight, success ballast of 20kg (44lbs) to a max of 100kg (220lbs) can be implemented. Not placing within the top 3 reduces ballast by 10kg (22lbs).

The time slot for this Series is debatable, but i would prefer Saturday as race day. Sunday is usually occupied by Real life races that Motorsports enthusiast like myself surely don't want to miss. The Weekend allows for multiple time zones to participate. For reference, i would suggest 20:00 (GMT+0).

I'm thinking along the line of a 10 race championship including multiple real world tracks and maybe even some self made Eifel courses. My provisional list includes:
-Spa
-Laguna Seca
-Nürburgring GP-F
-Fuji F
-Suzuka
-Grand Valley
-SSR5
-Autumn Ring
-2 Eifel Circuits

I have never hosted a Racing series so i would be happy if someone help me out a bit. My goal is to get balanced and diverse racing series going that is closely related to the JAF GT300, but without the limited diversity of the available cars in GT5.

Well the GT300 is dominated by Porsche, so i guess anything goes as long as it is able to fulfill the weight and power criteria.

RUF would be considered tuner, no?

Im interested, I'll keep a look out on this coming together.

I might add that the GT300 cars in this game are already very balanced in terms of speed when regulated to about 315/1100. There are about 10 gt300 cars in the game, so you have a decent choice. When you go to street tuned cars, i have a feeling the series will be dominated by the NSX, evora, rx7, m3 csl, and lfa. Possibly not the LFA since it wouldnt meet hp regs with the limiter, but that would be hard to enforce anyways.

Good series proposal, certainly interested.

RUF is registered as an independent manufacturer, rather than a tuning house. But their cars are so advantageous anyway...

With a horsepower limit of 300, perhaps you could limit the series to cars which initially fall below this limit, even with oil change if used. Perhaps even lower the limit to 276bhp (Japanese industry standard), then allow tuning up to 300?

To ensure variety, you could also impose a limit of three cars from any one manufacturer.

And for this power/weight level, may I strongly suggest sports soft tyres. I find they offer the best combination of performance and wear, for racing purposes (if you want pit stop strategies to come in).

Nice idea.

Liking what yusername said, it's better if we have to tune up the cars than detune them.

For now i have to put the idea on hold since i filled my time slots with another series. Once my schedule clears up a bit I might pick it up again.

As for Cars: Most of the Cars that have to be detuned and seem to be quick don't usually drop down to the 1200kg and are slightly above. Cars that get there and have room for success ballast had to be up tuned. I haven't tested that many cars thought, so who knows what loopholes can be found.

I like this idea for any series really. Just like real teams/manufactures entering a real series with their own car.

I like this idea. I always enjoy racing cars that aren't tuned to the max with too much power and stuff.
