Well, I found this when importing a replay for the Rocket Seasonal.
There are three replays in this thread (posts #33, #35, #47).
The car is stock, but in one of the replays the speedometer only goes to 160kph and on the other two it goes to 240kph.

I got curious about why. Anyone knows?
Does it happen with other cars?

Positive that both cars are stock and that it's kmh to kmh?

Being sure about stock there is no way to confirm that, that I know of. But there is no incentive to cheat, so everyone trusts each other in the thread. If the car isn't stock then the feat should be reproduce-able, but unfortunately I don't my have my ps3 for the next weeks and didn't remember to try. But from my reasoning I do think the cars are stock (same top speed, same lag between gears, and a decrease in the max speed in the gauge instead of an increase), but I could be wrong.

The unit is the same. That I am sure. I noticed this issue because the gauge was glued to the max once 160kmh was passed and I found it weird.

Anyways, do the speedometer changes with upgrades? If yes will it increase, decrease (or both) the max speed)?

I was thinking that it's maybe a regional thing, but I don't know.

arcade style HUD is directly influenced by the gearbox setup; changed the gb max speed ( auto ) and the speedo will go to those speeds; even if you shorten the tranny, its still going to 220mph even if you set the tran to 180mph .. its the 'Auto4 part that determines your HUD .

Thanks for the answers, but I am not entirely convinced.

It makes sense that the speedometer changes with the gearbox changes. However that is to avoid the gauge being glued to the max when that speed is passed, which was exactly what is happening. And the top speed is the same (can confirm because there is also a digital speedometer in bumper cam).

In two weeks I will post pics/video (the earlier time I will be with my ps3).

you can do that easy ; you only need to get ratios equivalent.

lets say your final ratio ( 5 or 6 or 7 or 8 depending on car ) is : 1
and the diff ( whatever the crap they called that in GT6 ) = 3.56

if you have a last gear n 0.87 same rpm in both cases ;
and a diff that is around 4.1 ... its basicly exactly the same top speed.

cause :
1* 3.56 = 3.56
0.87 * 4.1 = 3.56

get it ?

the first gears cant be the same ; but the max speeds on them can.... the shift down point is not at all the same ; and when you shift up ; you wont get the same RPM loss.

but they both have the same top speed given the same tires ; rpm.

so you can have 2 different speedos ( linked to the initial setup of the auto top speed ) but then have exactly the same top speed; with one going a lot beter than the other.

IRL you dont want a last gear over 1 .....its called economical gears. .... unless ; they are straight cut gears ; thats is ; racing Gear box style; ferrari style; lambo ; and many others ...
then again ; if you engine has 1000nm of torq ; you want to get in low rpm so you awnt big gears ... but im leaving the subject..

your awnser is allready in my post ;)

Thanks, so maybe the car wasn't stock.... I will take a look further to see the gears changing points.
