Bumping, Ramming, and Pushing Tactics

Right, I cant be assed reading all these posts, but from the 1st few he is basing it on NASCAR....

Well all I can say is that this is NOT NASCAR, you dont drive around a boring oval for 500 laps or whatever it is!

And NASCAR is CRAP (I would use a stronger word, but it will just get censored), I mean honestly, all they do is drive round an oval!

Personally I prefer MotoGP to any motorsport, and I tend to dislike F1 because its too "clinical", but NASCAR takes the cake for being the worst and most boring "motorsport" (if you can call it that) in the world!!

Ever wonder why its never been adopted outside the US?? Because its total ****E!! Rally is the best car-based motorsport, then touring cars come 2nd in my opinion.

Much like the thing where they carry the ball with their hands 90% of the time!!!! And still insists on calling it football.

Darn it do people like that make my blood boil. As big a Nascar fan I am, he is completely wrong. when you bump someone in nascar you are
a- telling him to move over- and it is a sligght tap.
b- bumpdrafting
c- being a complete @$#&%~ to everyone around you.

Now the fights think about it this way. You have been preparing for the past week on this race. Now some Yahoo pushes you out of his way with no respect to you at all and causes you to wreck your car after you have been driving for the past 2 hours. I dont know about you guys but the least thing I would do is make sure he does not finish that race.

I tell everyone the same thing when they talk this about NASCAR, if it was so easy to drive in an oval at upwards of 200MPH sandwiched with 42 other cars doing the same thing in front, behind, and on both sides, then we'd all be NASCAR drivers. There's a reason we don't drive in NASCAR, it's just not as easy as it looks.

NASCAR does require a lot of skill to be successful, but to race in general not aiming to be professional, it is much easier compare to for example racing on the suzuka circuit.

Forgot who but some Nascar driver tried formula 1 for fun and messed up so bad, on Speed TV showing


And he said it wasn't his sport.

But a good Formula 1 driver for example Montoya can join Nascar without that big of a problem, maybe not winning a lot but being competitive ..yes.

Another good parallel example, it is like Snooker versus 9 ball or 8 ball,

Snooker = Suzuka or nurburgring
9 ball or 8 ball pool = nascar racing

We all see the clear differences i am sure

this person's rants has not tarnished all you sound drivers from the US.

it aggrivates me so much that people find the need to shunt people and drive into them forcing them into gravel traps etc..

all because they have taken the wrong line or not set their car up properly to gain as much speed as they can so they think they have the right to ram you into the gravel or a wall ruining your fun and your time by playing the game..

this game is not NASCAR although when in the US i do enjoy watching a bit of this sport.. but when in the UK watch and support speedway bike racing. but his game is all about precision and tactics and who is the better driver not who can ram into you.. i am sure destruction derby is more your game or burnout paradise etc.. not this fine game GT5

i wish there was a way of getting rid of un sportsman like players that think this kind of behaviour is exceptable. as it is not..

Let us all focus on this guy and make his online experience a living h***! Seriously, comparing hockey with general competitive racing is bordering on comparing rape with kissing.

I didn´t comment on the sport being physical, rather than being misnamed. Football should be played using, ehm, your feet. Or like EA should have said it; if it´s in the game it´s in the name.

I'm thankful I have the EU version of the game and don't race on the same tracks as this cretin. I empathise with all who do. Though by advertising his crummy tactics on a public board, he's leaving himself open to all the banging and barging that he advocates. I doubt he'll spend much time on the circuit in future -99% of people are clearly faster than him and the other 1% will be only too happy to ram him off the circuit.

I just raced an idiot last night that drove like you. It was late, we where only 3 guys in the HSRing and guess what... he rammed both of us out of the track, so we quit. Twice. After that, being advised of his stupid driving, we actually managed to survive AND pull ahead a 5 second lead every time. HE ended up not playing there anymore and went to another track.

So my guess is that you are just like him. You are and are not interested in driving or racing, just wining at any cost. So why don't you go buy a GTA copy or something more appropriate to your age? Probably don't even have a drivers license... do you? Or maybe you do since you can get one at 16 without knowing the first thing about driving.

To all other, badmouthing NASCAR. Please stop. Granted there is a lot of (unnecessary) contact, I don't like it either, but driving those delicate brutes at high speeds, always on the grip limit has to be respected. It's just different racing.

NASCAR is crap, American Football is crap, baseball is crap, and so are all those other sports that no-one outside the US would play!

Thats why they are not international! If they were truely great sports they would be international and almost every country would have a team/driver.

Hence why the biggest and best sports (football, MotoGP, F1, WRC, etc) all have teams and riders from around the globe!

People see a good thing and make it big, if a sport doesn't leave the country it was first made in after xxx years then its pretty obvious thats because the rest of the world unanimously agree that its a crap sport!

There's a reason we don't drive in NASCAR, it's just not as easy as it looks.

There's another reason I dont drive NASCAR....because I wouldn't be caught dead in one!

It is obvious he doesn't actually do any real racing. It is a fact that bumping happens. Watch a Spec Miata race sometime. However, there is battling for position, and purposely putting a fellow driver off. The latter will get you black flagged immediatly. I know I have bumped a few drivers. Never on purpose. I have bumped most simply because I was bumped. But I have not, and will not, purposely put someone off. Because, as someone who knows racing etiquette, I know its un-sportsman like to do so.

Well why is it different now? Because you just found out that it's not an American-only sport? How does an opinion change that fast and easily from "Oh it's crap" to "I suppose it isn't crap" all because you found out baseball is played outside the U.S.? That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

So if I told you that NASCAR wasn't only enjoyed in America, you'd like it, right? Or it would then be acceptable?

Why dont you just cut to the chase and just say "I don't like American sports!" It's so much easier than dancing around the maypole with this 'international-only' talk.

EDIT: Oh Wingwing, Juan Pablo is doing OK in NASCAR himself, but he has stated he finds it difficult, even with his F1 background, and has made more than a few enemies on the track because of his overly aggressive, too much contact driving style. I don't understand why he feels he can get away with it now, but he didn't pull that stuff in open-wheel... Eh, whatever. He likes it, that's all that matters.
