Just wondering, has excessive remote racing caused anyone's PS3 to die? The fan in my PS3 didn't sound too healthy this morning, and I've only had it since December 26th... and the only game I play is GT5...

I would imagine it will only burn out if your PS3 is in a cramped space with little space to breath.

My PS3 has been alive since 2009, and i've never had any problems with it, and with an open space for it.

This! I guess your ps3 will live as long as you want, if you take good care of it. Let it stand on its left side (only side without ventilation areas) and remember to clean it (remove dust covering ventilation areas) from time to time. I've had mine since the first month ps3's were available and sometimes i have had it running for several days. Still running smooth as a kitten.

I haven't turned my PS3 off, except to move it, in months. Turning it off and on hurts it more than consistant warmth. Just make sure it has good air circulation around it and blow some dust off into the vents every week or so.

I probably did more damage to my PS3 in the first week I had it by insisting my kids turn it off every time they were done with it than in the last year.

There have been posts asking this same question, or similar enough, in the past. Use search.

While this might be true, the system does suck up a lot of power and you'll pay for that constant running on your monthly power bill. Hence why I turn mine off.
