This is a fairly old game, but I wanted to review this bad boy for your viewing pleasure. "Burnout 2: Point of Impact" is no Gran Turismo. No Gran Turismo in the sense of knowing braking points, pitting every now and then, and of course, doing it all over again while racing like a professional. This game wants you to be mean and aggressive. The way to go in this game is to drive in the wrong lane, nearly miss cars, get air, drift in corners, and boom! You activate the turbos and speedfreak like you never speedfreaked before. When I played this game, I had the GameCube version. So here are my quick stats before moving on:
Concept and Execution: 8/10
Graphics: 8.5/10 (except some of the cartoony-ness of the cars)
Sound: 7.75/10
Music: 7.75/10
Gameplay: 9/25.10 (very fun)
Overall: 9/10
Here are my comments about the game:
PROS: Arcade action, nice variety of environments, wickedly fun racing, Crash Mode can be very fun. Biggest plus: crashes, and all other intricate details rarely slows down the game. Pop-ups are also minimal. Well executed. Also, enjoy the BURNOUT!
CONS: for those who want fiery wrecks, won't get them here. The police car's lights from the chase camera can be a distraction in looking ahead. Races can be quite challenging depending upon how focused you are during driving. Some Crash missions can be rather tricky to know how to rack up the most points.
VERDICT: fairly old game, but this is highly addictive and easy to get into once you get the hang of it. Get it now if you don't already.
