george bush flies to england for an audience with the queen. he brings up his plans for the future of the u.s.

'your majesty' he begins, 'can we turn the u.s into a kingdom?'

the queen shakes her head and replies 'one needs a king for a kingdom and you are most certainly not a king mr bush'

not to be dissuaded, he asks 'would it be possible for the u.s to be an empire then?'

'no' retorts the queen. 'you need an emperor for an empire and you are most certainly not an emperor'

her majesty takes a sip of her tea and then adds, 'mr bush, on reflection, i think america is perfectly suited to being a country'

Ahem.. Sorry.. :)

by the way... an empire doesent need an emporer it is where one country rules over other countrys, like Britania once did :)

I will just shutup now *leave room* ;)

Actually, yes i have see the old girl, gawd bless her, i have no proof. But there were several thousand other people there at the time i'm sure someone will remember me :D She was absolutely miles away, she's not very tall either so you just saw a head bobbing around. Can't seem to recall the event....... Wembly, Euro '96??? or something....

Also got stopped outside of Buck House while they got the motorcade out for Mandela when he visited her Maj', gawd bless her. I don't know if she was in the car or not, possibly.

I've also seen Princess Anne riding around the Badmington Horse Trials, cross country thingy. I'll check with Mum (who took me) it might have even been the year she fell at the water jump.

I also got caught up in a (i think) royal motorcade once when i was on my motorcycle heading out of london on the A4.... oops  but i've no idea who was in the cars. The Police bikers gave me furious stares once i realised and pulled over :rotfl:

P.S. the A4 is the main route out of London on the way to Windsor.

Oh my god! Where do i start????

Well what can i say, it's not as big as you'd think. It's not like in the films, it's more so, if you get my drift? People here aren't particularly friendly, but you can make a lifetime or lunchtime friend just by asking for the time. I've been to better clubs and pubs in Sheffield to be honest than the west end. But i've drank in bars where you only get invited to and a bottle of beer costs over a tenner. Every so often you find some aspect of london that is truly amazing and absolutely ace, and then something happens that bursts the bubble and really is the "doirty awld town" that the Pogues sang about.

The streets are not paved with gold to say the least, more shot with bubble gum and ciggie ends.

To be perfectly straight with you, worth a visit, but living here can be a pain.

Really it's what you make it, at the moment it's just a place i travel through from my house to my desk. But in the past it's been my best mate.

Anyway, we're well off the thread and Jordan is almost obliged to pull me up!
