I haven't tried the shaker that you are showing on ebay, but have read reviews that some cheap shakers fail quickly.

I have two Aura Pro Bass Shakers and four Sinus Live Bass Pump 3 shakers. I use two Aura Pros and two Bass Pump 3's for stereo on the seat and one Bass Pump 3 on the pedals and another on the gear shifter. I am very happy with the Aura Pros and the Bass Pump 3's.

I found a link to the Bass Pump 3's - I recommend these as good for the money.

I read somewhere that "AuraSound, Inc " the makers of the Aura Pro AST-2B-4 I believe sell some of their components as OEM to other manufacturers. The OP's linked product could well be one.

It certainly seems like several products on the market Sinus Live, Reckhorn, K-Woon are very similar to the Aura Pro and if these were dismantled I think it would show some are indeed using similar if not the same internal components. Not necessarily totally identical however.

Aura did at one time make various shakers, including a gaming vest and gaming cushion as well as some other units for the car market.

These are known as shakers or tactile devices.
Buttkicker as this thread is titled are entirely different brand and use their own patented moving piston concept...

vrezac - I would go for the 4 ohm model as it may be easier to integrate them with other makes of shaker in the future which are mostly 4 ohm such as the Aura Pro.

Mr Latte is an expert on tactile transducers and it was reading his threads and those of others on this forum that inspired me to try bass shakers - once you have tried them you can't go back to racing without them as it feels as if something is missing from the simulation.

As Mr Latte says there are a lot of copies of the Aura Pro on the market, however I think the Bass Pump 3 is more like a large version of the Dayton Puck.

Vrezac- regarding how to use bass shakers: I have copied below my response to another similar question on another thread, also the link is to a thread which answers questions relating to how to use them.

You need a seperate amp to run your bass shakers.

If your audio system has a subwoofer out then use a Y splitter and feed the LFE signal to both your audio sub and the amp used to power your shaker(s). If you don't have a sub out and/or want stereo shaking then use the PS3 multiout option - the appropriate cable is included in the PS3 box.

The Aura Pros are extremely good, but very difficult to get hold of for a reasonable price in Europe. There are low cost alternatives including the Sinus Live Bass Pump 3.

Although all PS3 games can be used with a bass shaker, not all give a good effect. GT5 has good collision, kerb and offroad effects, but I loaded Dirt 3 for the first time with my shaker system and the results were very disappointing - no shaking at all except when the music plays before a race!

Try reading the following thread - welcome to the wonderful world of tactile transducers and have a happy new year all!

Hi, just to point out "I do not see myself as an expert", a better term may be "tactile hobbyist". I'm just someone who has spent a bit of time reading/researching and having bought various tactile in the past.
How they work, their differences, performance interest me.

Tactile via audio can be a mixed bag depending on the source material. Many guys on the forums incorporated cheap graphic equalisers that give a bit more control in limited games. Of course with PC "Simvibe" offers much more detailed tactile.

Hey nothing wrong with starting out with a cheap model to see if you enjoy tactile.
As slick says it is getting harder to buy the Aura in UK/Europe.

Possibly consider the reckhorn from Germany if you want a similar model to the Aura Pro.

Mr Latte

It is a good quality to be modest. To me you are an expert - especially on the high end stuff which is outside my budget.

Happy new year!

But everything just gets too expensive with buying amp too.
So what about if I would just buy Buttkicker Gamer 2 (the amp comes with it?) ? And can you plug into the amp that comes with it the other shaker ?

Speed costs money…how fast do you want to go?

I had the first sets of original huge Buttkickers to be used in a high end home theater way back when. Disney ordered a bunch for their theme park thrill rides and then I did for my own home lol. In a large room floor mounted they could "Jurassic Park" any adult beverages on the coffee table, knock things over etc. Driven with a few thousand watts. Still have the in-room deep bass SPL record as far as I know via my big subs. The early BKs hit hard to around 5-8 hz.

The Auras have their place but are more like woofers and not subwoofers. Not much moving mass and not moving very far. Long ago I figured out how to make DIY tactiles - check the secrets of home theater archives.

If you can, get the BKs. Then you'll see why so many like them.

The Buttkicker is a good starting place but the amp will only offer a mono or single channel of amplification. So in future you cannot achieve say stereo tactile or add additional tactile units. You would have to buy another full package.

Here is an example:
Say you ended up wanting 2x or 4x tactile units
BK Gamers in UK/Europe are more expensive than USA.
£160 x 2 = £320 or x4 = £640

Compare this to buying a decent 2 Channel amp.
Even a good but budget 4ohm model like this (friend has one)
http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_tamp_e400.htm

This amplifer and dual Reckhorn wouldnt cost much more than a Buttkicker Gamer package but give dual tactile units.

The difficulty for budgeting is finding stereo or multichannel amplifiers at a reasonable price point that offer the 4 ohm rating. Many will be closer to £200 each but these IMO would be much better than the BK Gamer amplifer. Also being STEREO they will support dual shakers.

You could then consider tactile like the Reckhorn or Clarke TST T209 which would likely be much better than the first one you linked.

In the long term going this route allows for upgrading, can save you money and possibly give a better performance. Really depends on what suits your needs and budget.

I seriously considered the Thomann amp, but in the end went with two subwoofer amps for space reasons and also because being a normal full range amp the Thomann needs to be partnered with a 31 band graphic equaliser like the Behringer 3102.

I think you can get a significant improvement in your immersion in the game (GT5) with just one subwoofer amp and a couple of Bass Pump 3's (one under seat and one under pedals) for about 150 Euros. Obviously you can spend a lot more and get multi-channels, better shakers and a better effect, but I think many of us cannot justify such expense.

The buttkicker gamer 2 is a good way to get introduced into tactile immersion for your rig. I have 2 of them along with 6 Aura bass shakers. As you mentioned the gamer 2's have their own amp and with a creative mind they can be implemented very well into one's tactile set up.

Left888

I know you have a BKG2 on your pedals. How have you implemented the 6 shakers and the other BKG2? I know you have three tactile zones, but what does that mean in practice, also what do you recommend for GT5 - I won't be doing Iracing as I don't have a PC.

Great rig and fantastic photos on your site by the way! Very jealous of your rig and triple screens!

Thanks Sick, I use SimVibe which is a tactile program used for various PC racers such as iRacing, I use a 5 channel Emotiva power amp for 4 of the bass shakers. I then use a Dayton amp for the other 2. SimVibe offers two modes, "chassis" and "local for seat, shifter and pedal" For the buttkickers I run them off of the sub woofer.

For the consoles I'm afraid your choices are limited to audio output from a amplifier like a 5.1 amp and buttkickers or bass shakers. There are several threads here on the web site on how to do this.
