Im going for a G25 with a faulty shifter as I can get it for a cheaper price that way. The owners says that practically the shifter is still working, except for gear 1, 3 and 5. Im not sure if he looked into it himself, but if I buy it will I be able to fix it? I don't mind using the paddles but using a shifter usually feels better.

So I can basically use some tips to fix a faulty G25 shifter, I just don't know if It's fixable or not. Thanks in advance.

The shifter on the G25 isn't very good to start with. The wheel is very good value for money but the shifter is really a toy. If you really want a decent shifter you will have to go to a much more expensive solution. If you want to get into a wheel at a budget price a good used G25 is a great place to start and just use the buttons on the wheel to shift.

I don't have to use the buttons, I can use the paddles! Guess I'll have to watch some Youtube videos to open the shifter and see if I can fix it myself. Why should I not give it a try if It's broken anyway? Thanks for the info though.

Well if it's the right price and still useable without the shifter then go for it, I have had the shifter apart on my G27 for a handbrake mod but honestly can't recall what the setup is for switches etc. on the actual gear stick itself.
Best of luck.
Jim.

There is also the option of buying the G27 shifter and attemting to wire it up for the G25, but that would make it more expensive. Logitech still sell the shifter separately on their website, check out the shifter wiring thread here

Honestly with all of the potential problems that can develop with wheels I would personally be hesitant to buy used, unless its a very good deal or lightly used (aside from the shifter).

Honestly, the prices do seem differ slightly over here but the broken shifter one is being sold for 90 euros, which is 125 dollars. I don't know if that's too much, but you have that 'urge' to quickly overpay for something like that as you can't get a new one anywhere at the moment, and as soon as you find a new one they will ask too much money for it. What should I do?

Sorry I didn't intend to scare you off from this option. It sounds like this is one of your more convenient options.

Heres a thread with some potential fixes.

One more thing, the G25 has been discontinued for a while so all you will be able to find new is the G27.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Now I can't wait till I get my hands on it.

I have a spare G25 shifter I'm happy to sell cheap if you wind up needing one.

Ah thanks, that's really nice to say the least! I think I will let you know soon enough after I get the used G25 in my hands. Do you think it will work out though? I live in Holland which is really far away from NC. Imagine the shipping costs.

Oh dear I did not realize that, sorry to get your hopes up. I have quite a cache of sim stuff collected over the years lol.

Here is a suggestion if a small part shipped might help. Get your shifter, take it apart and see what seems to be wrong. With any luck it is just a small part and maybe that gizmo can make sense to ship. I get goods from the UK all the time and it takes around a week and a half, maybe it would be about the same for you.

Yeah sure, even if you can't ship anything that's fine. Maybe 'we' can have a look at it after I pick up the wheel on Monday and open up the shifter to see what's wrong. I'll post pictures of it if i can't see what's wrong with it myself.

There are two pots inside the shifter, one measuring left and right, and one measuring forward and back. On that shifter, it sounds as though the one measuring forward and back either has a wire loose or is bad. Most likely a wire is just loose.
