I am trying to buy the G27 steering wheel and wondering if there are any budget tables/desks and chairs to go with it. I'm already going to suffer for buying the $240 g27, I can't afford one of those nice racing seats. Please let me know what you guys have or use now. Thanks.

Dont go for a g27. Go for a fanatec CSR. With the pedals its about 30 dollars more expensive and its an overall greater wheel. My g27 just got hit with problem after problem that are common with the g27

and what was that problem.

I have probably 500 hrs of very hard use on my gt27 without issues. It is also pretty easy to get a 50% off coupon from Logitec to purchase a wheel.

and what was that problem.

The wheel thinks 2 degrees to the left is straight. Even after fixing the optical wheel problem. It heats up way too quick causing loss of FFB in about an hour of straight racing. The clamp to the wheel cracked just because of tightening.

The worst problem is the optical wheel though. Logitech knows about it and hasnt fixed it in 2 years. Just so you know i treat my g27 as a god. I never ONCE have done anything to hurt it.

@somebodysb2- I like the CSR because of the increase in the amount of buttons. And give its firmware some time. It will get better.

Thanks for the link above for the cockpits.

Btw how do you get the 50% off coupon =O

See if you can get a hold of a broken old logitec wheel. Call customer service and they email a code to use online. That's what I did. I have also heard it is available by signing up to their news letter I think it is. Give it a shot.

Get the Fanatec, the G27 is an old wheel and to be honest the gear shifter is utter garbage. I bought one to cut up the top section to make a button box and I couldn't believe people bag on the CSR shifters. LOL the CSR shifter might as well be Ferrari shifters from a real car compared to the Logitech shifter. I can't believe how bad it is.

really appreciate your input. I'd get the fanatec if it was cheaper but that's simply just not in my budget range. I barley considered even getting the g27 haha. I'm a college student on a budget.

really looking through those pages somoene posted above to find myself a budget cockpit but really want the shifter on my lower right side instead of next to the wheel.

Gotcha man, but if its a matter of $100 or so just wait and save up some more money. You won't regret it. The G27 wheel isn't terrible, but the shifter, wow.

Look, For the price of the G27 you can't go wrong. I've had mine a good while and haven't had one ounce of bother with it, and the same goes for everyone I know with both G25 and G27. Go with the G27, You won't regret it.

Agreed!
I have owned my G25 for about 3 years now, its still works perfect. The G25 or G27 can be modified extremely easily!
Go Logitech, there products and customer service are at a high level.;)👍

Most people have never had a problem with their G27. Mine is still running strong. If your on a tight budget nothing is better. But the shifter is bad, bur you will be faster racing online using the paddles anyway.

There are tons of mods you can do to the G27 which improve its value. Just note its def showing its age with these new wheels coming to the market.

You can build a rig for less than 50$ if u go to the hardware store and take a trip to the junkyard to find a good seat. Ill post a pic of what mine looks like.

Not to mention as long as amazon, Newegg, ect ect ... sell the g27 you have to greatest warranty ever. Say if it were to break :( ..... so what just buy a new one, and send the other back. 99% of the time you will get your money back minus shipping and the restocking fee. 👍

The G27 will satisfy your needs. It is very smooth, and has a very good feel.. The leather Wrapped wheel just adds to the Premium Feel you get by the wheel.. The Main Problem I get.. And it is the ONLY problem I can absolutely think of. If you have a pet (I have a German Shephard) The animals hair can get into the pedals mechanics, and can mess with sensors.. I will have my brakes going on down a straight away.. It can be fixed easily.. By taking the base off and dusting in there, will A Q-Tip (or 5) and Tweezers.. Amazing how much animal hair can get in there..

i posted this in the cheap hardward post as well.
But the bestway to get what you want for a cheap price is to build it yourself.

65$

I pulled a leather seat from a 3000 gt @ a junk yard 45$
then brought the cheapest wood at home depot ~20 $

ive changed it up along the way

end result - i ditched the armrest on the right and moved the shifter since i never use it.

this is exactly what i'm looking for! Yes, I'm willing to build it myself. That doesn't look TOO bad.

That is VERY cool! Don't be suprised if you see my post pics of it on here :sly:

I don't think there is anything like interfaceone for the G27. You could buy a Frex and use it with PC I guess. Anyone know of any aftermarket shifters for the G27?

I've just gotten a G27. :) It's great but the force feedback isn't very strong. I had to turn it up to 10 (simulation), I'm not sure if this is normal or not. :dunce:

I will look for those original designs. I know I left them in an old sketch book. I just need to find it.
But you can make it your own by just going to your car and measure out where you like it based off what you always drive.
I have an A4 so my cockpit feels 90% like that cept for I spread the pedals out wide for left foot braking in F1 games.

With my gt3rs wheel which is very similar to the g27 I use a simple Ikea 14 dollar desk with a 9 dollar chair works well and is the perfect height.
