 I don't know about you, or if my situation is considered normal  but my families are mostly gamers and automotive enthusiasts, from my cousins, uncles, granpa to aunt, my granpa's sister actually a gamer since Nintendo days - imagine that. I have a group of buddies from junior high and high school that are still in touch, buying games, play them and have fun together, imagine that when I am over 30 years old :D When GT5 launched, I got it on release day along with some of my buddies and families, there were at least 40 copies :p I'll be buying for my nephews/nieces, uncles and my cousins children in Sydney, that means several copies of GT6 from me alone. The kids prefer GT6 over 6 pack of belgium chocolates.

 No, but seriously, I love the GT series and pre ordered 6 long ago.. just trying to digest the lack of RUF's premium and new models, and the missing Top Gear track and other tracks.. but hey it's cool.. Just hope they sort the sound and Ai out this Gen.

I am not even going to read this whole entire thread, but I think fans of Gran Turismo (and indeed other games) get emotionally involved and expect developers to cater to their every desire whether or not they even have knowledge of said desires. Point is, the developers make a game that they are pleased with first, it is their own product, their work, their lost time and blood sweat and tears etc. They are fans of the game too but they are going to do what they think is best and then put it out. If people like it and they buy it, then that's great. I think Polyphony Digital are doing well and even though things would be different if I was running the show, I will buy it on day one simply because in different ways, each Gran Turismo since the first one has brought me some fun times.

The real test for GT6 isn't going to be initial sales, they will be there. It'll sell 3 or 4 million by the time the holidays end. Staying power is the issue. GT5 continues to sell well right up until this day and that's not normal in the gaming industry, a million copies 3 years after release is pretty unusual, if not unique. Will it continue to have that kind of staying power given it's on a console at the end of it's life, and will have to compete with at least 2 decent titles being on that console before GT7 arrives one of which, PCars, will probably blow GT's doors off in terms of graphic detail, track selection and possibly gameplay as well?

That will be the big difference IMO, sales will fall off and probably stay low after year one at which point they whore the title out really cheap, in an effort to keep unit sales up.

PCars is hard to quantify against PS3, as it will release on PS4, XB1 and and Steam/PC. Timing of the price drop on PS4 could sway that either way

Hard to quantify PCars indeed. I believe if they do it right it could absolutely fly off the shelves but time will tell. One thing is for certain though, it's the first real top notch sim PD has ever had to compete with on it's own console and that alone will be interesting. .

PD wont really have to compete for sales directly until GT7. Which would be a year or so after PCars. If thats the case, I'd back PD to raise the bar slightly. A year later, PCars2? would raise the bar again.

Huh, you really think that if they cared, they would blatantly lie to everyone?

Do you lie to people that you care about? That's not considered normal behavior, not in any culture I am aware of.

Considering that I was talking on a monetary level it's common practice many places that are trying to gather money they "forget" to mention potential flaws or missing items that were earlier promised. if you think I was talking on some emotional level then you misread my post. But it makes sense, if they cared about people buying second hand or waiting later on after patches due to some mass loss in sales they wouldn't have told us that the game is already going to need several patches.

Not sure how that breaks down into trying to debate ethical theories. Also me lying to a family member isn't on the same level as a company (PD) lying to their customers. It's quite idealistic if you think you have the relationship with them.

Considering Pcars will be coming out next year, I don't see why people expect 2015 GT7

They don't really lie tough, they just keep people in doubt with vague statements. As soon as a journalist would mention to Kaz "Have you revised the sound model?", or "Has the AI been updated?" we always hear that "They are looking into the possibilities" or "We are aware of it and this might be updated"...

So now a lot of people actually hope that will happen, but knowing how these statements worked out in the past i sincerely doubt it...

I know and agree with this, I wasn't saying PD lie to their customers or have.

...You lost me what does this do with my post? All I was saying to the user is that if PD were worried about losing money by not having certain updates or new features on day one release or not soon after, they would have lied and not told the public. However, PD aren't worried that sales will suffer due to these lacking features and thus told us what we wont be getting but will have to wait for.

I know you were talking in general, just making the comparison between that and how PD communicates ;)

They aren't worried for sure, their game will sell millions anyway whatever they updated or not. What did my previous post had to do with this part of your post; nothing, i was still talking about the difference in companies lying and companies making vague statements like PD.

At the end of the day, they WILL make they're money back and they WILL make a profit!

I still can't wrap my head around the idea of buying a newly released game second hand. I mean, why not shell out the extra $5-10 and get it new? How much do you think a used one's going to drop? Surely not half the price in the first months .

I don't care about the price, i care where my money goes to and if it turns out GT6 is actually GT5.5 (meaning they didn't bother improving the game's many flaws), i don't want to give PD my money.

I do need to state tough that i am waiting for the reviews. If it does turn out the AI is better, engine sounds aren't that bad and the event system is improved and more exciting i will buy it new.

And before the posts come again of: "you alone don't make any difference", i know; but i will feel good not having given my hard earned cash straight to PD this time ;)

If you don't care about the price, do yourself a favor and get it while it's hot. You don't want to be that one guy that actually follows his moral dilemmas on this topic, do you?

As much as some say they will NOT be buying it new and whatnot, I have a feeling once launch day comes, they'll sing a different tune.

As per the "you alone don't make a difference". I'll just throw some general info, not only for you. As long as we have retail stores, consumers don't make ANY difference, the big guys still get paid! If we bought the game direct from PD, that would be a different case where it WOULD make a difference.

Ah I understand I was just confused is all. Thanks.

My guess is that GT6 (if it turns out to be GT5.5) will be appearing in the second hand shelve a week or so after release. Punters will buy it expecting to have the best there is, and will be disappointed early on with it once they notice they have to pass their grandmothers again to be able to catch the rabbit in front, and their fancy exotics sound like vacuum cleaners in the process :D

So i won't have to wait that much longer to buy it, patience is a virtue ;)

Well the decision is in, after an anxious night sleeping i read the reviews and they basically say what i expected from reading what the people on GTplanet said so far. Game hangs around 8/10 and unfortunately has most of the same flaws as GT5 (apart from the menus), yet is worth picking up later on for it's good features and hotlapping with a mate.

So i'll wait a bit and buy it second hand, most people probably don't give a crap what mister dog does but i'm wondering who's with me? :)

The 8/10 scores give me the same feeling I got when GT5 got reviewed. Listened to the IGN review expecting a 6.5/10 but was shocked to see 8/10:eek: I'm not falling for it this time.
