2001 Dodge Neon - Fastest Depreciating Car on the market!!!

Did you read any of the other entries? In order to be accepted you have to list both the pros and the cons. Just because your car is depreciating and my car appreciating doesn't mean anything. It's all about cosmetic, mechanical, and/or electrical issues.

My bad, I'll do so later. :guilty:

Don't worry about it -- no big deal. By the way, what percentage of the Neon's value is lost annually? My T-Bird is appreciating at a rate of about 2-5% per year. :)

Little late to the party, but here's mine:

1990 Subaru Justy
115,000 original miles
turquoise/silver/rust

Pros:
-cool "Fun Justy" factory decals
-115,000 original miles
-no power anything to break
-45+ miles per gallon, with it's super-efficient 3 cylinder engine
-despite the noise and smoke, it NEVER STOPS RUNNING.
-can be lifted off the ground by three large men.
-rear cargo compartment lets me carry a guitar and small amplifier semi-comfortably.

Cons:
-Big dent in rear quarter panel (made better by smacking dent with fist from inside
-big hole on inside door panel (somebody slammed door with seat belt in the way - tore the interior right up)
-broken grill (pieces still sitting in back seat
-no radio, just a home-made black painted cardboard delete plate held in with superglue
-no anything else - "five speeds (all slow) and a heater (which doesn't work all that well)"
-horn works "intermittently" - never works when you want it, but goes off when lightly brushing the center of the steering wheel while making a tight turn at a busy intersection.
-burns oil like crazy, smoke comes through heater vents into cabin
-passenger side headlight dims randomly while driving, taking rear brake light with it - driver's side headlight assembly has approx .5 inches of water sloshing around in it.
-wierd, unidentified vibration coming from rear passenger side tire area - neither myself nor my mechanic can locate the cause - maybe it's haunted?
-interior carpet worn through on driver's side, exposing metal floor (which is dented from where heel rests while driving)
-It's a Subaru Justy, and I'm 6'4", 260lbs

I made a few edits from the original, having thought about it. I'll take and post some pictures this weekend - I'm travelling (using a government fleet Ford Taurus wagon with a leaky window and puddle on the passenger side floor!) out of town this week on business.

humbly submitted,
yardbird

Honestly, I think you should be in on the fact that it's a Justy. :dopey:

And I thought my car had problems! You are definitely in! Allow me to send to the other judges. :)

Well I have some sad news, I am afraid I must leave the Crappy Car Club. Last weekend I finished the build-up on my 1985 Chevy Pickup and will now be driving it rather then the GEO. It has been nice knowing I was not the only one with a really crappy car and even better knowing that many of your cars were worse off then mine but it is all over now because I DRIVING THE TRUCK OF MY DREAMS NOW!!!!!! :D

So when you think you will be stuck with your pile of crap car forever just remember if a poor, redneck from Iowa can have the truck of his dreams, so can you... :sly:

Im driving a 1990 Buick Lesabre

Its got a lot of aftermarket rust on it so i guess you can say it makes it faster. It also has a nice ticking coming from under the hood. 💡

Congrats on your dream car, though. 👍

So when you think you will be stuck with your pile of crap car forever just remember if a poor, redneck from Iowa can have the truck of his dreams, so can you... :sly:

Which is why I've started looking for a Lincoln Mark 7 LSC / Mark 8 LSC. :sly:

The ticking is most likely a stuck valve.

Aftermarket rust,. Classic.

MrktMkr1986
Or a belt. My car left me stranded when the timing belt snapped. :dopey:
That sucks, but then again, there is a reason you're in the C3. :sly:
same as above
I have aftermarket rust too, but I use it primarily for cosmetic purposes. :sly:

Just ignore my signature for this one :). My daily driver is my 1989 Saab 900.

Cons:
Ugly as hell
Paint appears to have changed color in some spots (perhaps a "chameleon-like" additive to the paint?) ;)
Muffler has so many holes it looks like a flute
Wheels have pine tar all over them (don't ask me)
All trim and emblems have fallen off or have been stolen
EVERYTHING is dry rotted
Fog lights were ripped off during an altercation with a deer
Leather seats have been ripped to hell (they were grey, now they are the color of insulation)
Headliner drapes over your head when you sit in a seat
168,000 some miles

Pros:
The only Swedish pickup truck in the neigborhood
It starts up (even on the first try sometimes!)
Drives great in the snow
I put my old Pirellis from my Z3 on it (handles like a ferarri now) ;)

Your sig can't be ignored. I say banned list now! ;) Sorry but some of these guys really drive the POS listed and should be given the respect they deserve.

It won't be like that for long... few more months and I'm going to get a Mark VIII LSC. :sly:

Well, me and Brian are having time management issues, him with his love affair with his future car, and me with school and work. Neither of us have the time to maintain the C³. We need a manager, someone who will be dedicated to the cause of glorifying the forgotten, piece of crap cars that you see everyday, and tend top ignore. If you would like to apply for posistion of manager, PM me and I'll see what I can do ;) You can keep some of the same judges, or choose new ones. You don't have to be part of the C³ in order to be the manager or a judge. Just drop me a PM if you feel up to this monumental task.

Remember, if you get the position, you will have to pimp the club like no other ;)

Nissan Micra '94 1000c

- 184,000 km
- Right sideview mirror is held in with putty
- Makes a nice clank clank clank when in full lock
- Capable of doing 120kmh in 2nd gear (I tried to blow the engine)
- Driver seatbelt ripped
- Takes 15-20 seconds for the engine to start
- Windscreen cracked
- Left hand drive in a right hand drive country
- 0-100 in 21 seconds
- 100-0 in 15 seconds
- Reverse busted, I have to push it with my leg in neutral
- Driver seat will not adjust
- Passenger seat will not adjust
- No radio antenna
- No radio
- One busted windscreen wiper
- Will run with Johnny Walker in the tank (we were drunk)
- Due to the second crash, the frame now touches the wire to turn the heating on, so depending on which season it is, you need a use a pair of pliers to bend the frame and flip the heating to hot or cold
- Does not turn left completely, sometimes i need to turn right 3 times to make a left because I'm too tired to engage reverse mode

id would like to join some sort of club here at gtp so here goes:

1992 vauxhall astra 1.4ls 5dr

edit: here are the pics

Some bad news, the talon is no longer mine, i've pawned it off on someone else. why you ask? well i was comming home and about 30 miles from home i went to hit the brakes and guess what, only the brakes on one wheel worked, that's right i had one lousy brake caliper to stop a freaking 3000+ lb car. needless to say i went for the E-brake, and i promptly found out that it wasn't in good condition because just as i felt it start to slow the car i heard the distinct sound of a cable or two snapping and the car was no longer slowing down. all i can say is tank god for downshifting. i parked it and put it up for sale. by the time someone came to look at it the brakes had started working again and they bought the car. about 3 days after i sold it i got a call, it was the new owner menitioning the brakes went out on him...

Yay! A place to show of my junker!

Vehicle: 1991 Mitsubishi Galant 4 door
Mileage: 200,600 and counting 👍
Motor: 2.0L SOHC (burns a quart of oil every 500-600 miles)
Color: Is it brown? Is it green? I would say it looks like a turd that couldn't make up it's mind.
Misc. Damage: Alignment messed up from a ditch run; cracked up hub cap also from ditch run; driver side mirror is cracked

There is plenty more to say, but I'm in school at the moment.
Will update tonight with pictures and more juicy details.

VipFREAK [10:42 PM]: that or I'll see a little puff of smoke from the rubber band right after it reached part of that

I drive a 1988 Dodge Ramcharger W100 with a 318ci V8 and a 3 speed 727 torqueflite tranny here are the specifics:

cons:
-Odometer only reads 5 digits so it may have 65,000 miles, but more than likely 165,000.
-Passenger seat ripped up a bit
-rigged windshield wipers, directly wired to the battery, and the switch is broken so they come on sometimes when the truck gets a jolt or I hit the brakes kind of hard
-Crap blue two tone paint.
-Big dents all over with some surface rust
-It actually has a cd in it but there is a cd stuck in there somehow, and it can't be removed.
-one wal-mart 6x9 and one blown Sony 6x9, which actually sounds better and is louder than the wal-mart one
-broken motor mount, the motor leans about 6 inches down on the passenger side
-Transmission slips to high hell, could be either the bands, toque converter, or something internal, but I'm too lazy to find out which anyhow
-head gasket may be going out, either that or a leaky radiator cap, who knows
-Bumper bent a bit due to the guy that i rear-ended the other day, was worse, had to take off the bumper and fix it myself, luckily the guy just said to not worry about it
-My right rear tire seems to be the one that goes bald the quickest and most frequently, it is also the one that the diff lets spin...
-Shocks are so worn that if I modulate the brakes and throttle it looks like I really have hydraulics, I have actually gotten my front tires a couple of inches off the ground!
-0-60 in 10.1 seconds
-valves are screwed because I ran it with open headers for about 4 months, and the night before I put my 'zorst on, I get a $90 ticket for modified exhaust, just my luck

pros:
-I put a few mods on it like an open element air filter, headers, and homemade exhaust, all in an effort to make a bit quicker, reduced the 0-60 by about 2 seconds
-interior, besides the passenger seat is in decent condition.
-only paid 800 for it and have been offered 1200 on it for a trade in at a dealership
-0-60 in 10.1 seconds
-Sounds great for an old low compression gas sucker
-kills most of the ricers around here, especially on the bottom end
-Can burn the tires off fairly easily
Here are the only pics I have of it right now...
Beginning...

Middle...

End...

^^^ a really easy way to get rid of some pent up anger and an old spare tire.
