Why does Mother's day keep us from Racing? Sunday morning Familial commitments down under?

It's a rubbish day tbh.

Practice in 8.5 hours in my lounge :)

... Except I'm brutally hungover and won't be attending :(

Sorry guys.

1 . Yes, please lets settle on a date, and if it is not next weekend, then amend the date/time calculator link on the OP appropriately.
2. Please update the points table in the OP
3. Praying for rain at Spa!

Sorry guys, been rather busy of late.

Date for Spa race is the same date listed for Sarthe, Sarthe will be kicked back by 2 weeks or 4 if required.

Points table will be up ASAP as soon as I get some time on PC.

Weather forecast links added to OP and race dates changed also, we now have a month break between Spa and Sarthe.

I will be doing the points table over the next hour or so too.

Guys, please be mindful that Spa is RH only and with a chance of rain it is IMPERATIVE that you get practice in the rain on RH tyres, otherwise it will likely turn very ugly so get those braking points down, sort your grip in the wet and brace yourselves, winter is coming.... lol

Something looks wrong with my total points. I got a dnf at daytona which by my reckoning is worth 12 points on its own, and I was 3rd or 4th at laguna (i've forgotten already :0 ).

That actually brings me to something I've been thinking about: this scoring system can have some funny effects when there are large numbers of dns's.

For example, if you imagine a 3 race series where 12 people attend race 1 but only 5 people attend race 2 and 3. Assume person A comes last in race 1 and 3rd in both of the other 2 races. They score 18 for the series.

Now assume person B only competes in race 1 and comes in 5th. Because person B skipped the last 2 races they score 6 points for each of those to give a total of 17 points.

In other words, person B beats person A despite only competing in 1 race. Doesn't seem right.

It could be corrected by scoring each person as x-finishing position, where x= maximum number of starters (e.g. 12), all non starters score 0, and highest score wins.

Anyway, I'm not suggesting that we change anything for this season as we have already started, but just something to think about for future championships. :)

Edit: 3rd at laguna for me so I get 15 points total by my reckoning.

4. Added points table and points allocation for non starters and non finishers being points equal to ONE more than the lowest place driver. Example: HP finishes in last place (8th) but there are non starters and non finishers, each of them get 9 points. If I finished last in 5th place then each non starter gets 6 points and so on.

POINTS TABLE AFTER RACE 1 - least number of points wins championship:

Micantony - 1 point
Gadget334 - 2 points
Davidb165 - 3 points
ANFD - 4 points
I-was-ere - 5 Points
WIDFO - 6 points
Cobani - 7 points*
TDZDave - 7 Points*
Knukken - 7 points*
Schoonsy - 7 Points*
Heathen - 7 Points*

Not sure i agree with item #4. Seems like the people who got DNF should get points based on where they placed in standings, not the same as those who didn't race. But that may be where the confusion lies Davidb. Those are what HP wanted to do and I'm fine with that.
So, for Daytona, all DNF's and non-Starters get 9 points as only 8 drivers finished the race.

Flawed points system is flawed... Apologies guys.

How about all non finishers and non starters get points equal to the total amount of drivers registered for the season? There's 14 from memory so it'd be 14 points each DNF and DNS.

Thoughts? If everyone is happy with that I can amend the table?

Next season we can use the F1 scoring model.

Works for me

Maybe we should change the points now as it will help the series.

I don't mind doing the calculations for the points if you are busy HP

That'd be great Plux, cheers mate. PM me the results :)

What was wrong with the points like myself and david thought it would be: points as you finshed, based on where you got disconnected?

Doesnt that make the most sense?

Does anyone object to the introduction of the F1 system now? Can simply amend it now, should make it easier and it'd be based on results so there'd be no advantage nor disadvantage.to anyone.

I have been having fun regardless of the points. F1 does seem better though

That's only party of it Mic (see my post a few pages back). Still have to account for different number of starters between races. I am guessing the F1 system being suggested addresses that too?

Like you I am happy with whatever we go with.
