C: Scenery 1

This is my first competition that I've made if the title is wrong or if this is the wrong forum then Meh.

Any who, this competition is about making computer generated landscapes. You can use any program you wish.

Here is my example :

I made it using a program called Terragen you can download it here

I then edited it using Photoshop.

is there an editorfor making trees/plants?

Not in terragen but it is possible I think with other programs to add trees if you go on the site it gives links to software that imports it to prgrams where you can add trees but its too complicated for me.

Meh, you can install more so that the program gets very complicated.

If no one enters the competition will be off.

I didn't get a great glimpse of it; my friend showed it to me one time; isn't something where you type in some numbers or something and the program makes the landscape? It has nothing to do with wireframes or anything.

hey supra229...

for the next computer animation contest lets do something other then terrains and scenery because those are a bit to easy and boring for my liking...

lets do something where we have a picture and we have to recreate it...the picture could be like a car...or a painting or something like that...what do you think?

i think after a while scenery will get boring...theres only so many mountain combinations you can recreate and itll get really repetitive really quickly

anyways those are my 2 cents...if anyone has any other ideas id like to hear them

Donbenni : Its more complicated then typing numbers, maybe try the program out its only 2MB.

No, not using terragen Ive never used terragen but from what Ive seen you can do, you cant make non organic objects.

Since you made the competition open to all programs, I think for the next competition we should try something different. Maybe something where we recreate a car or something along those lines. I think that doing this will make it open to more people because not all programs can make terrains like terragen can, and some people are better at making objects such as cars, planes etc. As I said before, scenery and terrains will just get boring after a while.

Anyways supra229 what do you think about this?

I think its good.

Terragen is free and only 2MB so any can have it.

Just I am useless at anything else but we can still do other things if you want.

Ok so if my idea is alright with you i will do the animation competition for next week or whenever this is over...i was thinking we can do something like the photoshop contests...we have a picture and everyone has to try to recreate it, if that doesnt go well im glad to stick with the scenery

its a bit grainey because i had to reduce the quality because of uploadit.orgs size limit

Try http://www.photobucket.com - it's alot more reliable than Uploadit, and there's no size limit AFAIK

bryce isnt free but...

there are some other good programs out there that are rather cheap or you could get one off of a friend...

maya offers a free learning edition, thats how I got started. Later I got the full vesion of 4.0 and I'm going to get full version 5.0 soon

anyway for all of you who dont know, maya is WAY advanced and an awsome program if you want a FREE legal copy of the student edition you can get it HERE

maya is used by pininfarina, GM, to model cars it was also use to make LOTR movies.

oh i know what maya can do and its absolutley amazing...i have to learn maya or another program its just i have absolutley no time, ill probably learn it over the summer but maya is absolutley amazing

btw how long did it take you to master maya skyline?

I like the shape of the landscape although unrealistic it looks good.
