The car is an attempt for the brand to "reflect back not for nostalgia, but what made us great at the time," said Clay Dean, Cadillac director of advanced design.

The concept could point to the future design direction of the brand, under the informal slogan of "American glamour meets American technology" Dean said.

Dean did not say if the concept car was a hint at the proposed flagship rear-drive sedan meant to challenge the BMW 7 series and Mercedes-Benz S class. Mark Reuss, General Motors' president for North America, told Automotive Newsin May that a new flagshipison thetableasGM maps its go-global strategy for Cadillac.

I can't wait to see it. Hopefully it will change their design language and Cadillacs will start looking good again. But that's just my wishful thinking.

I'm think that it would not be more the a concept car something along the lines of the Cadillac CIEN and Sixteen concept cars.

Does anyone know what part of the car the 2nd is from? the red part looks like the V on the bottom of the late '50s emblem but I'm not sure..

Looks to me like the top of the right-rear wing, bottom of the C-pillar, and top right of the bootlid. The red bit is, I think, part of the tail lamp extending up onto the top of the wing.

It looks like someone just zoomed in on a sewing machine and snapped some pictures.

I'm hoping it turns out looking like the Ciel concept... i'm not usually one for that type of design, but damn it looks good!, the front end of the Ciel has so much presence.

I do not like those squarish looking tail lights at all. The rear looks terrible. The need to do something with those tail lights for sure. The design just does not seem to flow well at all. Squares meeting with half arcs and all sorts of design issues.

The idea of merging the shape of the exhausts with the taillights has me intrigued. It looks like Cadillac may be trying to infuse a bit of elegance into their designs again, judging by the glasshouse.

Judging by the general stance, could this be XLR 2.0?

This car's styling does nothing for me. Cadillac, you screwed up. This could have been a beautiful car, but it isn't. Want to know how to make a big, American luxury car look pretty? See below.

Hmm... i'm not 100% sure whether i like the back of it, but i do like the front (looks a lot like the Ciel concept.. very imposing imo).

^ That is a nice looking car, what is it, a Buick? (i don't know much about American cars so don't recognise it).

Disappointing. Those vertical headlights are the main reason modern Cadillacs are ugly (along with their proportions and way too much sharp edges). But Americans seem to love them, so they will probably continue with this trend. But luckily no design language lasts forever, so there is still hope that Cadillacs will look good again.

I don't think those are actual, official shots. Why would Cadillac release such poor images? You can clearly tell that they are the original teaser shots that some talentless hack has imagined an entire body for; you can even see where the original shot is grafted onto the drawing in the first shot.

First gen Buick Riviera. And I agree, looks terrific and very well proportioned, the concept car on the other hand appears to be a little bit back heavy.

Just put a roof on this a tweak the styling a bit(the integrated tailpipes are a little bit wrong to me) and we're good to go:

I admit that I like most of the styling on the Ciel, but I don't like the look of the front end and the integrated exhaust pipes don't look all that great. let's hope Cadillac doesn't roll out a hideous concept and ruin their styling again. They've just started to fix the 'Art and Science' mess with the ATS and XTS.

Cheers Dan. 👍

Agree with regards to the tailpipes, i think they did it to echo what they did with the inlets and lights at the front... but it just doesn't quite seem to work.

@ TheEnd35000vr.

I like the V-16, but i much prefer the front of the Ciel, for me, it's far more imposing/more presence, and for some reason the upright nature of it looks more American than the sloped front of the 16, (imo, i'd prefer to see it turn out more like the Ciel).

Cadillac will debut new concept car and new logo at Pebble Beach
Cadillac has a history of showing luxurious concepts at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and this year won't be any exception as a spokesman has confirmed plans to introduce a new model at the annual event next month.

Little is known about the car,but Cadillac showed a couple of rendering of a mysterious model at last year's event. The company didn't have much to say about therendering but they appeared to show a large coupe with a small grille and a massive rear end.

Automotive News is also reporting the concept could be the first Cadillac in recent memory to feature a single-piece logo. The new badge will reportedly drop thewreath because consumers see it as "outdated and obsolete." If this pans out,Cadillac could adopt a new "crest" only logoas soon as the 2015 model year.

The wreath and crest is an absolute necessity. It's offers a tiny classical contrast to the modern design language. It's ornate. Modern luxury cars are not ornate enough on the inside. I want to see modern space ship designs on the outside with 1930s excess on the inside. Caddy's symbol offers just a little of that old-timey comfort that the Europeans never offered. The Brits still understand it with Jag, Bentley, Rolls and Aston all having complex, delicate logos that have obviously been around for a long time.
