I'm cool with it if they bring back the V, the crown, and the ducks. Wreath should be for hood ornament only. Or do it like the Mercedes Benz classic wreath.

I can't wait for the running prototype that GM promises will come to fruition, because it's totally production feasible, only to instead make more DeVilles.

Or nothing and then say a year or two later "the budget just wasn't there we thought it was but now we realize it isn't (though we could have told you that day one)"...

Actually looking at the Sixteen (and the Evoq, and Cien)...





How is this "future design direction for the brand" supposedly previewed by this concept any different from the design direction for the brand every Cadillac has already used for 10 years now?
 
El Miraj is cool. Only thing it needs is more wreath.
 
That is one epicly-proportioned car. Not entirely sold on the face of it, but something like this is what Cadillac should be building to be taken seriously as a purveyor of fine automotive goods. Costs be damned.

That interior is suitably bonkers too; love the wood up top 👍

Let Nissan and Mercedes do their thing and keep concepts conceptual, come up with something vaguely new. :(

Btw, no beef with the interior, that looks great. Love the peanut butter guts. :p

This is stunning. Well, maybe it could do with a slightly smaller front grille, but that sort of thing is the fashion these days.

But has really bold, strong proportions, clean surfaces, neat details.

For me, at the moment, Caddy designs some of the best-looking vehicles on the road. The 2014 CTS looks great, the ELR basically looks like a concept car, and the ATS is a really sharp thing too.

Long way short of identical obviously, but has a similarly unadorned boot lid, slim upright lights that wrap over onto the top and strong rear haunches.

Though there's probably a few other modern-ish Cadillacs with similar details too.

There's only so many designs that can be made that are functional. The lights are in a similar style as the GT-R concept, but it's not like the GT-R concept was the first or only vehicle to do headlights like that. Also they are along the same lines as Cadillac's current design language. All one has to do is look at the ATS or new CTS to see that.

As for the body style, it's a pretty standard silhouette for cars like that.

I really like the look of it and really shows Cadillac/GM can design a beautiful car when they actually put forth some effort.
 
That is a production car. It doesn't have that many crazy details, heck not even the wheels are way-out, it really looks like it could be on the streets in two years or three. And I hope so because it looks gorgeous. Not Ciel/Sixteen gorgeous, but pretty close. More importantly, it looks closer to a production car than those two ever dreamed of.

I was thinking the opposite!

It's nicely sleek and elegant as a concept, but i wonder if it would be half as striking with huge production mirrors, production/legal lights and a more realistic wheel/tyre combo?

If the interior resembles the concepts in any shape or form, i'll be amazed.

It is plenty classy though.

Lights very similar to those probably wouldn't be much of a problem actually - more than possible with the latest LED tech. The mirrors might be more of an issue though, and the wheels may have to lose an inch or so of diameter and an inch or so of poke for production reality.

Ah, of course. I mean yeah, a lot of things would have to change, but it's faaar from a show piece, it looks like a very very produceable car -if that word even exist, if not, then it does now lol-, the overall design isn't crazy or weird not to work as a production car with a few tweaks in a few years. And yeah, if the interior more or less resembles this, I'd want to live there.

What's with the banana-like sloping up the backside? It looks to me like they started at the front, got to the firewall, and then ran out of ideas. The front looks pretty nice, though.
 
I don't know if I like it. On a scale from 1-10, I'd rate my likeing to about a 3-4.

Honestly I haven't really cared for much of anything from Cadillac over the last few years.
 
Wonderful. There are some things I would have done differently to the outside to make it more aggressive, like for instance making it a fastback (reckon they opted not to do that to provide ample trunk space), but it is a very nice design.

It also appears to be a fully functioning concept, and not one filled with clay, or worse yet a fictitious magical engine of the future.
 
Few things here for me:

I. I don't like the crest. It looks like an aftermarket replacement for those who use Escalades as status symbols, then "ruin" them further by making them so outlandish no one else would be caught existing in one.

B. Like was mentioned before, the design style was already like this. This is different from the Cien (don't know about the Sixteen and Ciel) is focus and the grille isn't an egg-crate style, going for a mesh weave instead.

3. I'm with Danny, that back looks recycled and moreso than the rest of the design.

$. Probably most important. This isn't a Cadillac. As I look at it, I see two cars in it, and wouldn't doubt a fusion of both. Initial thought-"Badge-job Camaro. Yes, because we want a muscle car with more chrome and wood than any truck stop can muster over a very certain other option". Second thought after seeing the side view-"Sharing the new Impala maybe?"

End. It does nothing for me.

But the logo looks like the badge of some cheesy after-hours security firm which patrols office parks, or an antivirus software icon that only appears in movies. Bring back the wreath/laurels, and the little flightless waterfowl, while we're at it.

My thoughts exactly. The car itself looks awesome, the perfect combination of brash and elegant.

The logo really just looks corny though sadly. Hope that doesn't stick around.
