c'mon Cuda, just do it! :D this sounds like a good battle. and to all of you who are putting Drift down, is it such a bad thing to want to test your skills??

hey, when Bustwave challenged me, I didn't really care. I still did the challenged(even though I have never used sims before) and I still on against someone who is really good. if I can do it, CudaMan can do it also because he's CudaMan.

Wow, I had no idea some of you guys would get so uptight about this. Like I said I drift for *fun*, not to prove anything. I don't mind if someone gets better than me - in fact I think at least one person has, and he knows who he is. He doesn't have to "challenge" me to know. Methinks this thread was thought up as a way to stroke someone's ego by getting me to drift their way - a way I never do because I don't feel it's fun. Drift260Z also refuse to clarify what "slicks" are, exactly... perhaps in an attempt to confuse me further? ;) I'd probably be more open to trying to drift on stickier tires if people had more encouraging attitudes. I must admit, all of this "sim tire drifters suck" talk is getting to me a bit.

I think it's funny some of you are getting your pants in a bunch over all this. :)

Night_Drifter - just wait, I've got some killer FF drifting footage waiting to go in Gran Dorifto 3. :)

If you're the best prove it and teach this punk a lesson.
I've never said I was the best. Everyone else says it. Why should I feel obligated to play under someone else's unusual rules to prove something I haven't stated? See where I'm coming from? :)

All this being said, I'll probably try some T2 drifting tomorrow (I think T2 is the most slippery slick?).

I feel like I'm in the Spanish Inquisition here!

well, "NOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION" :) that was from Monty Python and the Flying Circus and that line remined me of it. hey, did I ever say sims tire drifters suck? no, I have respect for sim tire drifters now after the battle because lets face it, they are fun tires. when I say "slicks", I mean medium tires and stickier. oh well, since you are so stubborn about it, I will just have to go at you in the GTPDC week 3. good luck.

hey are you serious that he can drift better in FF than anyone you've seen, well have you seen this drift with the Spoon Civic drifting in Apricot Hill, after watching the video, if you said its not good, then i wanted to see his FF drifting, i havent seen it too so can you? JUST WONDERING!!!!!!!!

https://www.gtplanet.net/gallery/photos/gt3_video/Spoon_Civic_Drift_Showoff.wmv

While that vid is jaw dropping, the smothness, angle consistency, and technicallity of the area's being done is behind the stuff I've seen from Cudaman. Have you seen the stuff the man did with a white Type-R Integra in Gran Dorifto 2. Mind blowing. As for me...yeah, I can't FF drift worth a ****.

Hey Cudaman, any idea when this long awaited GD3 might be do..Christmas, in time for GT4 launch, etc.?

As for sims vs. slicks, slicks drifting with rediculusly overpowered cars is about as realistic as the TF&TF or 2F2F. Just a personal opinion of corse. :D

who says they are rediculously over-powered? my S13 slick drifter has about 300HP and mediums all around and it drifts just fine. I have evidence that sims-to-slick drift is harder than slicks-to-sims drifting. when I was making the vid for Bustwaves video, sims were easy to adust to because I already knew throttle control. but when I went back to slicks, they had alot more traction than I thought and it was like learning how to drift all-over again. it took me like 30min to get used to, and I'm still not up to par. the racing slick tires have a crap load of traction to break and so it is more of a challenge to cleanly execute a racing slick tire drift. but I think both tires have their strong points and their weaknesses. as I said before, I think both tires are very good and I have a newfound respect for the sims drifters. before you go bashing racing slick drifters, try it and see how much of a challenge it is. be honest or you won't know where we are coming from.

to me...driving with sims is more of a challenge as they have less traction so executing a drift would take more precise throttle control and countersteer to keep from spinning out..so maintaining a good drift on a long turn is challenging and fun..i love it

but heres the thing, with sims u oversteer alil and ur sideways, with mediums, slicks, etc..u have to force it sideways, 206 used sum feint drifting, but the other half was jsut reg drifting, how he does it...no1 knows.... but in my opinion i would say tires with traction r harder to drift b/c 1. u cant jsut oversteer it and 2. u do one wrong move and ur back to griping, b/c it gains it traction so quickly unlike sims

drifting with slicks isn't that hard. if u put enuf power into the car, it'll feel like ur drivin with sims.
I have a 500 hp RX-7 FD RZ with medium - slicks that drifts like it has 275 hp on sims. 500 hp is a lil unrealistic but hey, it's 50 more hp than Imamura in his RX-7 =P

I advocate what Cudman says. If Cudman likes to use sims...so what... people drive with their own set up and style. He shouldn't have to drift on your terms, just drift and have fun drifting...sims or slicks. Telling someone that their style is inferior just because you don't, or don't know how to use it yourself is GAY and displays your ignorance to drifting.

In fairness I wasn't directing that comment at you specifically, but I've seen that stance sprinkled among the threads in this forum. It was a general observation. :)

For those who may be wondering why I like sims, I feel they're the most realistic tire in the game. Having drifted a couple cars in real life with 112hp and 140hp, I'm pretty confident that sim tires are the closest to real life street tires. Remember in GT3 we're playing with drift cars that usually have at least 250hp, often more than 300 - that's a whole lot more than what I've got in my car. :) Which is why it's so easy to light 'em up in GT3.

I also enjoy the precision. To me, driving an S2000 on a race track is a very rewarding experience (talking about real life for a moment). It's an amazingly precise machine that does just about everything right. Now I could probably turn the same lap times in a WRX due to its superior straight line speed, but would I enjoy it as much? Probably not. It doesn't have that feeling of oneness with the driver that allows me to comfortably probe the limits of the car and have a great time eking every last bit of performance out of it. It all has to do with how the car communicates at the limits. I think the same thing applies to sim tire drifting - it's very precise and very rewarding when you get it juuust right. There's more control over the slip angle of the rear tires.

BTW I'm not bashings WRXs, I do like them and I know they're fast. They're just not my cup of tea.

Anyway, that's clear as mud right? :p

Hey Cudaman, any idea when this long awaited GD3 might be do..Christmas, in time for GT4 launch, etc.?
Certainly before GT4 launches I hope. :) I've been wanting to work on it for a while but right now my project plate is pretty full, working on my MR2 trying to get it fully track ready again. It's got two problems right now that nobody can figure out, which is hampering progress for sure.

Cuda: This is the first time I read this thread otherwise I would've chimed in sooner, but I just wanted to encourage you to not listen to these kiddies. They're just trying to act like big kids.

Everyone else: STFU! What a bunch of whiners! Why are you trying to force Cuda to battle? He's obviously not interested. That doesn't make him a coward, it just means he doesn't want to battle. Is that so hard to believe? Now, if you were displaying a lot of skill and potential and people were starting to think you might beat him, that might be a different story. But you're just trying to get him to race so you can see what happens, and I don't think that's fair to him.

Hey Cudaman i never hated you or anything, i was just saying thats all, i've never seen your good vids, sometimes i dont check vids that much cause of my slow connection, but that FF was done with SS tires and full powers, when more of your FF comes, more of my FF will come too, just wanna see how good it is thats all, im just interest in people who are good with their drifting style, i never hate them!!!!!!!!

I have drifted excesively overpowered slicks cars, and I simply don't find it has nearly the realism, the feel, or the fun factor as sims do, for me at least. I am tempted to try normal or sport tire drifting with a bit more powerful cars. Seems it would best represent D1 style drift cars.

Edit: by excessively over pwoered, I'm referring to these 700+hp awd and rwd drift cars on slicks that many of the "top" guys use. I find the tires take much less precision and more right foot to drift. If you manage to drift succesfuly with such little power on T5, bravo for you, your not the stereotypical psycho power silck drifter.

I support Pergatory and CudaMan fully, he don't wanna battle, stop bugging him about it.

XzifT hungry..buritto..
