None of the new stuff as they have stability control (on our market at least.) and are dangerous to drive. I can't quite remember every car right now but the '71 Mustang would be tempting.

The new car I want is not in GT6. Want I want to get is the new Dodge Dart. I want standard options, and a metallic black clear coat.

I'll make the post longer when I have time.

I tested the 2008 Maserati GT S in gt6.. Now I own a 2013 Maserati GT S irl :D

Update: Megane is sold since last October. The Mustang GT was on my list, but the price range is higher than I thought. So, that's unfortunately off my list. I also considered the FG X Falcon becuase I owned a V8 Falcon and wanted to get one of "the last V8".

1.5L ND MX-5, NA MX-5 and CX-3 are on my list. I can only drive the NA in GT6. I have driven a 1990 NA in Connecticut in the past, so of course I'd get one. Prices are high for MX-5s here in Australia. A good NA I've seen for $4300. NBs for $7800. NCs are still above $17k. Depends where it's sold. I have also moved back to New South Wales from Melbourne. Eastern Creek is about 15 minutes from me and I will be getting track time. Which leads me to consider a Mazda 2 Genki or Suzuki Swift Sport. I'll pretty much get sticky tyres and change the suspension a bit on either.

I've just found out Forza 2 Horizon is getting all four generations of MX-5 in a special pack. I'm going to buy an XBONE and the game. This leaves the CX-3. It drops at the end of this month. The flavors we'll get in Oz are two variants, sTouring and Akari: FWD, AWD, petrol and diesel, 6spd manual and 6spd auto. It looks promising and since its based on the new Mazda2(Ive been driving an auto version the past few weeks) albeit with bigger(16" & 18") wheels and tyres, Im sure Mazda will tune the suspension to handle really well. Id like a go at an AWD manual version in both engines.

As far as trying to test drive an ND MX-5 in GT6, I made a replica based on the NC using just released specs of the ND. It's got to be good. It's an MX-5!

CAN CAPS LOCK BE USED TO BRING ATTENTION TO THE TOPIC IN A TITLE?

Of the cars that are in GT6 I would most likely be interested in a BMW but the next real car I buy will likely be one that is not in GT6. So far none of the cars I have owned have appeared in the game though there are a few which are close. Example list of cars I have owned
61 Falcon, 68 Beetle, 66 Capri, 63 Fairlane, 69 Cougar XR7, 69 Cougar, 68 Mustang Coupe, 71, 74, 84 Firebirds 85 Trans Am, 72 and 73 Novas, 73 El Camino, 83 Mustang, 2001 Mustang, 83 Cougar, 96 Z28, 96 Thunderbird, 86 E150, 87 F150 and the list goes on. As you can see there are a few cars there where something similar or close is in the game but no actual matches.

I wouldn't trust a computer game for much beyond prototyping what colour car I wanted to buy. If you're going to be buying the car in real life, you need to test drive it at least once before laying the money down anyway.

Making decisions based on perceived handling in GT6 seems limiting. What if the car drives like crap in GT6 for whatever reason, but in real life turns out to be great?
Best answer so far... 👍

I would say no. How does the car handle real roads with real bumps, what do the seats feel like or is the the driver position comfortable. Are you gonna be driving at 10/10 at all? Will the car have GT6 driver assists, heh?

You'd be better off saving your money on another game console and just go test drive some real cars. That's more fun anyway.

No no no. I would not recommend using gt to buy a new car.

Conclusion:

Dont buy Toyota Supra. Buy Suzuki Cervo Instead -___-

I'll try the SM tyres. And see how I go. May keep the tyres from wearing too fast on the SRT8 and Mustang at Willow Springs.

So having driven some of these cars in real life, how do those GT sport mediums compare? Nowhere even close?

These test drive scenarios would have to be on GT comfort hards at the very LEAST.

Of the cars in the poll, the fastest car is the Mustang V8 (Boss 302 and Shelby GT500) followed by the SRT8 twins.

I definitely believe in purchasing a real car based on how it feels in GT. If I didn't, I wouldn't be obsessed with stock time trials. I want to know how every car in the game compares to every other.

GT6 is really accurate on stock cars reactions as long as you keep them on comfort tyres (softs if you'll go for S-tyres in real life, medium for good road tyres and hards if you're the kind of person to save some money on tyres), so to compare track performances in the game is not dumb. However, there are still a lot of parameters which can't be reflected by a game of any sort. Since you drive all cars with the same device and the same feedback, you won't be able to know the actual sensations you'll get in real life. There are also running costs, practical aspects, etc... that won't be reflected by the game. Maybe it can help to narrow down the list to fewer entries, but as for me, if I had to choose, I could as well narrow down the choices before even driving them in the game, according to what I look for in a car.

Anyway, I think the necessity to have a real test drive before buying a car is obvious. If you can try out several different cars before making a decision, that would be the best.

Your list contains very different vehicles, so you might want to think more deeply about what qualities you're looking for. Since you owned a NA and you're considering another one or the new ND, you may want to list the pros and cons the NA had in your opinion, do the same with the Megane RS you sold, and work from it. You will surely find some points you don't want to sacrifice, some you don't care that much for, and some others you would like to improve.

I myself own a NA, and it would be a real hard time for me if deemed to find something as fun and versatile as this little thing. In my budget, that was not the fastest, nor the more practical or economical choice available, but for my use and preferences, I never came across something better.

I've owned:
'88 Festiva L
'88 Jetta GLi 16V( did a VR6 conversion)
'86 Jetta GL 2-door
'92 Passat GL
'01 Accord LX new
'04 Si new
'05 Odyssey EX-L new
'69 Cutlass 'S'
'05 Falcon XR8
'95 Camry
'03 Charade
'60 Falcon XK
'78 280Z
'83 Corona S
'13 Megane 265 Trophy+ new
add, countless cars I've driven from work vans to E21 320i to Audi TT and rented for short term from C6 convertible to Falcon XR6. I also worked for Toyota, Kia, Ford, Holden, Subaru and Mazda.

Now, when the 86/BR-Z debuted, I wanted a BRZ. Then, I found out the BRZ was only available online and sold out in Australia.

But the cars I narrowed my own choices down to, I pretty much have an idea about. I haven't driven a Swift yet. I have sat in one and I know people that own them.

one thing about GT. If you use a premium car, you can see the interior, gauges, dash materials used. Some cars are actually nice to drive from cockpit view. Like the NA has nicer gauges than the NC MX5. The Swift interior is simple, exactly like the real car.

As I mentioned, there were many cars I bought without test driving them and they drove just as I thought and read about them. Actually, virtually driving one is a new take on shopping. I'm keen to explore it.

. Actually, virtually driving one is a new take on shopping. I'm keen to explore it.
Reminds me of people who purchase from EBay, or any "sight-unseen" purchase... Except, with this, you can actually have some reference to place things you have in mind on, and not just perception from other people...

When I was purchasing my Hondas, I always sat in an S2000 in the showroom. That was a car I must have. Never drove one because it felt almost too tight(I'm 6'). When I drove the MX5, it felt right. My comfort level was higher. Knee space seemed roomier in the MX5.

I sat in a co-workers MR-S. I fell in love with it. Everything was right about that car. A baby Ferrari. But I popped the engine bay and seeing how to access everything, I shut it straight away. Now, the MR-S is a fun car to drive in GT3, GT4 and even in Forza 3. It's lost its appeal in GT5&6. I guess becaue it's not Premium.

Any way, I'm sampling the '07 Swift Sport on CS tyres. It's an excellent little car. Has the same amount of power my '88 Jetta had with the 1.8 16V engine. I have to hold 3rd gear on the uphill left-right at Midfield, but I like it.

The Swift Sport is a good car, it reminds you the 80's / 90's GTI times. 1st gen SSS could have some issues, which were corrected on the 2nd gen, but both are similar to drive.

I don't know if Abarth are available in Aussie, but you might check them out as well : if you try the Grande Punto, I found it to be frighteningly accurate in GT6 compared to real life, but keep in mind that the Punto Evo got a load of chassis improvements, and feels more consistent and precise. I'm not the turbo kind of guy, but the 1.4 T-Jet is an impressive engine, with plenty of torque and power while retaining impressive mpg. There are also factory and aftermarket options to improve the performances figures.

None of the list. I would choose a beautiful and fun BMW 4 series (as I suppose its not enough credits for an M4)

In real life too. That 120k Cr. Is just about a bargain to how much a real M4 is in Australian $.

The fifth-generation BMW M3 is heading to Australia with a starting price $156,900, while the recently renamed two-door BMW M4 Coupe will command a $10,000 premium

I think that an AllTime10s video on 10 facts about PlayStation said that one of the facts was that a study showed that one's next real car they'd buy is one they'd driven in-game.

Not really as I'd wnat a current car, and I don't think the VGTs are available to buy.

I wouldn't use GT as an aid in deciding my next real car. Performance isn't always accurate, even within the limits of the game's physics. Furthermore, you don't get a feel of how the car's interior is at all. You can't feel the seats, the steering wheel, the gear shifter, or any of the other features the car offers to make the time you spend in your car pleasurable.

The only way it would aid me would be to let me see the cars from any angle, and get an idea of which car models look good visually.

Considering how many popular cars there is in the game, it's really not all that strange that the car you ended up buying was among one of the several hundred you had used in the game.

If you wanna go with real tyres then choose Comfort medium for non semi, Comfort Soft for Semi Slick and Sports Hard for Racing Semi Slick and/or Very grippy tyre! Sports Medium and over is totally unrealistic unless you are thinking of Slicks..

Do they have the equivalent Acura TL Type S in Australia (2007/2008)?

They don't model it in game. Closest is the CL 3.2, or maybe the NSX ;-)

155 mph top speed, 0-100 kmh in 5.7 seconds or so with auto and Paddle shifters.

That was my previous car. Specs say .93 on the skid pad as well.

Comfortable, pwr & heated seats, air, sun roof and navigation. I hear the Infinity G37 is a little faster and is rear wheel drive.

If you really need the 5 seat positions the TL and G series are sleeper cars, or maybe not, depending on who you run with ;)

The Honda Legend and Accord Euro(TSX) are pretty much the Acuras down here. If I were looking for J-Spec cars, those are plenty. Chaser X540, STAGEA, Cosmos, square Soarers, Skyline 4-doors from every year.

My very first car was a '90 Saab 9000T Auto. Though, i always wanted a Saab SPG. Closest I got was driving an '83 900 turbo. But, first time I drove the 9000, I bought it. I actually drove two. A gray one and the metallic black one I bought. I read about the 9000 since 1986(I was 15). Knew it backwards and forwards. Never sat in one. Even attending every NY AUTO SHOW, I never sat in one. I knew I had to get one in my lifetime.

The best stock car seats in the 1980's were the Saab front buckets because they were like actual chairs and comfortable for long drives(I drove mine from Jamaica, Queens to Raliegh, NC no problem), Supra and Celica GT-S seats and any car with Recaros. There weren't any quirks with the 9000. I knew the car because I had in-depth knowledge from reading about it. There were no surprises or regrets or negatives. My time with it was the best.

So, today's cars. Above power, comfort, amenities, color, design. It's got to be fun. I've had fun driving my Festiva to fun in the Cutlass. In game, the Mazda 2(I upgrade the transmission to the 5-speed) is fun. The Swift is fun. The MX-5 is fun. The thread is CAN GT6... with my experience , I think it can be used to help me buy my next car. We want what we want.

I'd choose Other: KTM X-Bow R as my real car.
