umm first off.. Get racing SOFTS. That will make a big difference rite there..secondly ur suspension is wayyyy out of wack.. get ur front ride hieght down almost all the way and the rear up pretty high.. as for spring rate well iv never had the urge to drag a beetle but I can point ya in the rite direction to get ya started....keep it on the softer side up front and a little stiffer in the rear... i think a good place to start with your dampers wld be 1-10 10-1. Keep in mind man this is not a full on beelte drag tune.. Jus trying to point ya in the rite direction.. As for your tranny I wld flipp it and keep the ratios very close but jus trial and error will get ya were ya need to be eventually.. I'm sure there will be some die hard volkwagon tuners that will give ya sum better advice and probably have something bad to say about the info I gave ya..

Racing inters as race soft give give to much grip and it bogs down with turbo lag, Suspension is a typo, should be -25 for front, +50 for rear, and i will work with your other suggestions.

Edit, sorted the ride hieght.

ok good. I still say u can't go wrong with racing slicks.. if ur getting too much bite stiffin ur rear spring rate and make your first gear a little more aggresive to get just a lil bit of wheelspin without bogging. Experimenting with ur dampers will also help with wheelspin and bog. Trial and error will show ya the way.. take some of ur ballast off the rear and take down ur aero on the rear if ur still getting too much bite.. I also recommend getting the high range turbo.. If you launch full throttle and get the wheels spinning decently enough to keep the RPMs up ur gonna benifeit from the bigger turbo..

@op-remove the ballast also unless you have tested and it is faster with it, but I don't see that being the case with such a low hp car.

herbie!!!

Question, has any one actually tried my tune.

Also, i have got rid of the ballast and switched to race hard tyres. Also change the dampers (Exten) to F= 1, R= 10, now down to 13.608, but i still think this can go faster.

So if anyone could try it and report back, your help would be appreciated.

I'll give it a try tonight and report back to you. I've just got to tuning mine and I have to admit it is a fun car to drive-as you can tell from my avi:D:tup:

OK- Have yet to try your tune(just came back to write it down) but I just went and tested the tune I threw together last night, it is currently running 13.510. Definitely a good bit of room for improvement there too as I didn't spend more than 10 minutes on it. I see a couple things in your set up I would change just from looking at it. But I will go test it out now and see how everything works together and compare it to mine and see the differences. I didn't write any of my settings down for it because I wasn't really too serious about tuning it but rather just toying around in it.

Are you using auto or manual transmission?

OK, I'm back. Firstly, you need to switch to racing softs and use the racing exhaust. Keep the mid-range turbo as it provides more hp. That's it as far as parts. As far as your settings, your tranny needs work. Your 1st gear is waaaay too tall. That is why your bogging. With such a low hp car, your 1st should be as short as possible. You need to flip the tranny and shorten your first all the way. When you flip, instead of sliding the top speed all the way left like you normally would set it to the next 1 over(think its 76 or something close to that) then set your individual gears and then your final. For your suspension make the front soft and stiffen up the rear significantly. Also(I know this goes against everything taught here) raise the front ride height. Experiment with it. Trust me. When you are tuning, test each component individually so you can isolate the effects of your adjustments and see what benefits your tune. Hope this helps.👍

On a side note, I got my tune to 13.433 after 2 more runs.

Also, using mt is detrimental to getting the most out of this car. You need to short shift to stay in the powerband. There is plenty more to be gained from this car. I think I'm going to work on mine some more now!:sly:👍

Bro for my SL65 AMG do you use the mid range or high RPM turbo? Mid range gives more HP and TQ but I have to shift earlier

I have always used high. I am going to have to re-examine some of my tunes to see which will be more beneficial. Never thought to try it out before other than on my sambabus. Thanks to the new test track I have discovered a couple of very interesting new things in regard to drag setups.

BTW @OP-Your tune has real good top-end, I was trapping over 100 with it. Your launch is killing it though. If you improve your launch and can retain your top end, I am confident you could get real close to 13.0xx, if not even into the 12's! Keep tuning!👍

Edit: I'm at 13.327 now with more to be gained from my tranny set up. I'm trapping 102:tup:

The tune is built for the semi racing, so the gearbox will need adjusting for the racing exhaust, but i prefer the semi racing sound, (tricking noobs into thinking it is a V8 beetle is funny), will adjust more though for the soft tyres, will experiment with the ride height and the dampers, thanks for trying it though.

No problem.👍 The recommendations I made were solely with 1/4 mile in mind. I plan to further tune mine and see how much more I can get out of it. But for now I'm just going to use the tranny I came up with and rework my suspension to take it circuit racing to see how many people I can catch off guard with it.

Edit: 13.324 is my best effort so far after the time I spent with it last night. But I think it can still be a good bit faster.
