I just bought an ART Garaya GT300...

In GT4, (And maybe GT3) I was able to win in GT500 by boosting the HP with a turbo kit, but is seems the highest I can take it now is to about 360. I was trying to look at a 500 (SuperGT) car to compare weight, but there were none in the used car lot & the new one's don't list the weight.

Has anyone been able to pull this off in GT5?

I haven't tried but it sounds like a fun challenge, I might give it a go to find out. How many laps on the race? That would play an important factor I believe. I'm sure it's possible though.

Also a lot of it would be down to driver skill.

Thanks, Shem. I guess I'll give it a try... Anyone know a good tune? I was hoping Praiano had one, but he doesn't. At least not yet! (Hoping...)

With the low AI skill it's probably very much possible to beat GT500 cars with GT300 cars. In fact I think i'll give it a go myself..

It should be quite possible. Especially if your using racing Softs.

It would be well worth the challenge of doing it without aids and ABS like it's done in real Super GT. That would be fun!

gt300 wont win vs the LMPS
even gt500...

A GT500 can win against a LMP car but it takes a lot of skill. I've managed it on several occasions, but not every time I've tried.

A GT300 Vs a GT500........? It isn't too much of a gap in class, I'm guessing it can be done.

but only if the gt500 driver is verry verry bad...

even a really hard pushing gt500 cant beat a halfway pushing LMP because the LMP will go over 300 KMH

with the gt500 you reach near 300 KMH (ok the AI LMP´s) i think there you got a chance, but vs. real people... no chance

I did mean the AI when I posted about the lesser cars beating the higher powered ones. I think the chances of beating human opponents would be slim in the same circumstances.

GT300 (with a bit of tinkering) Vs GT500 (standard) should be possible

LMP Vs GT500 is another story.
The tack makes a huge difference, If the LMP does not get the change to get up to speed. I thing it can be done.

yeah THEN yes... you can beat the crappy AI with much slower cars... thats really not problem

I've often raced LMPs Vs GT500s. On a technical track like Autumn Ring or Tokyo the GT500 can manage a win if the race is without error. On a track with any amount of straight the LMPs have it in the bag.

That wouldn't even be a challenge, with stage 3 engine upgrade and a high rpm turbo the '08 Arta Garaiya will reach 500hp. That is more than the GT500 cars with no upgrades.

BTW, it does show the weight of the cars in the NCD.... you sure you are playing GT5? :dunce:

Winning the Suzuka Super GT race is easy in the GT300 Garaiya and the Wedssport. All you need is racing softs. Not sure about the other 2 tracks as they have longer straights that would enable the GT500s to use their superior power.

👍

I managed to win the World Circuits seasonal with my Mobil 1 NSX. Sure, there was a little bit of corner chopping, but given the difference in power etc I thought it was fair game.

I've also run the GT300 Subaru Cusco against the GT500's and found that I could gain a huge amount of ground through the corners and lose only a moderate amount during the straights. Gear a 300 for around 180mph top speed and it's relatively even on most circuits.

I Did the super Gt championship in a Gt300 celica. Can't remember the exact name of the car but it has only one gt300 celica and it's standard. had about 350hp and suzuka was easy. Had to block a lot on the other tracks.

You can win a lot of races in Gt5 with under powered cars:s

Well, it can't be done. At least not with the Arta Gyara. (sp?)

I had them by more than :35 at Suzuka, I hung on to 5th. for five laps at Fuji, but once I got passed, I knew it wasn't happening.

At 246, it was all I could do to hang on to 2nd. I had to do the entire straightaway looking behind me & even put some AI into the barrier before & after the turn. There was no way I was catching the rabbit, he was about 12 ahead, by the end.. Oddly, it was the Arta NSX that took first, so I guess we had a 1-2 podium.

I went to the UCD right after, looking for a 500/Super car, (I think they cost 2 million, which I don't have) but I found the WedSport Celica... I read on to learn it has the GT500 Supra's drivetrain!!!!! I grab it, slap the biggest turbo on it & I'm at around 380HP. I yet to change the oil & rebuild the engine...

Stay tuned! (Which reminds me, I need to FIND a tune)
