Can port forwarding reduce broadband usage?

Asking this as my internet usage has gone sky high since I got a new hub router, and my PS3 was port forwarded before...
 
I would think if anything you would see more data on a port forwarded setup.

More than likely they would be equal.
 
Bandwidth use will always be the same unless you changed in how long you use the PS3 for online gaming. It depends on what you do, how much bandwidth that device uses based on it's use, and other factors that you can't avoid. The way to use less bandwidth is to play less online, watch videos online less, and go on the internet less. Other than that, if you can't reduce the amount of bandwidth based on what you do then you'd have to look into another ISP that will have a higher limit or no bandwidth limit in their services.
