I can't get myself to like Fuji. After playing GT5 for countless hours it's the only track I really really dislike. Sure, I don't like all tracks in all contexts (some are nicer with faster cars, some with slower cars etc.), but I still like driving each one of them in the right context.... except for Fuji that is.

After thinking some about it I figured that I cannot seem to find the 'rythm' or 'flow' of the track. It feels like listening to incomprehensible fusion when driving the track... sure, there is a pulse somewhere, but... where!?
It doesn't matter if I drive a fast or a slow car. it doesn't even matter if I nail the corners. I just don't get a good feeling when driving the track.

The old Fuji was great. I really liked it from the first moment I drove on it in GT4.

Is this me, or is the track a bit odd? Is there anything I can do that could make me like the track?
Ofcourse it is not a big problem, but I am just amazed at the fact that it is the only track I don't like.

Fuji is tough because all the corners hide behind hills, real sneaky like.
I like the track but I don't think i've ever done a truly decent lap on it.

cockpit view makes it more enjoyable for me but i'm faster with bumpercam.

It's difficult in part because the armco is so far away from the track and the tarmac runoff zones make it hard to see where the track goes. If I was you I'd get a quick Japanese car of your choice and race in the Japanese Championship on Fuji a couple of times. Doing a race there might help. Also, try driving a really powerful RWD supercar there. Maybe a tuned Yellow Bird, Stock Mclaren F1 or stock Enzo. It is a quick course and is very forgiving if you make mistakes.

Run it in time trial mode (against your own ghost) for 20 minutes or so. I've converted every track I didn't get/like into a track I like this way (even the Top Gear track!)

I find lots of people online don't like Fuji and the Indy and Daytona road tracks. It's pretty easy to do well on them if you put in just a bit of offline practice yourself, learn the brake points, the visual cues and how to approach the corners.

Although I have to admit I still often miss the apex on the final corner on Fuji, especially in traffic, lol. Probably one of the hardest corners in the game.

It's one of them circuits which the more you practice, the more tenths it gives up.

Thanks for all your comments

I'll give it some more time then. I'll try both the practice and the japanese championship.

Its those decreasing radius turns. horrible

Also, for some reason, i either overshoot the end of the straight, or brake early

and that freaking 2nd to last turn before the straight, when youre going uphill.. horrible..

I've never managed to get to like either no matter how much I run them. Not sure I'd go as far as saying I dislike them but I don't think I've gone to play on them in a new car just for the fun of it.

Having said that Fuji in the FGT series wasn't all that bad.....I might have another shot of that series as I haven't run it since the tyre wear update and it was a bit of a mission trying to gold every race before - I had to go back and take a few attempts to gold Monaco 1st time around.

On the straight there is a light patch on the track, brake at the start of it, perfect every time!

Two words: Late apex.

Do some time trials and race against your ghost. It should help you find the line and rhythm you're looking for.

Hours spent on this track on Prologue, and it's still one of my favorites.

It is a course that I do like. I will admit, the uphill bit at the end can be annoying, and the last corner is so so very hard.

The rest of the course is odd. It is the only course where I think I get on the accelerator before the apex for every corner.

Something else to check out is YouTube videos of F1 time trials. But, just finding a good line may not make you like the course. I don't like the Daytona road course or the Indy road course. They both feel like after thoughts (because they are).

Do a free run in a Lexus LF-A (modify it -just grippy tires, LSD, weight and suspension will do. Don't add power, you'll ruin the car).

Test and feel the track with that car.

It'd suit the track as the 'F' in 'LF-A' stands for Fuji itself and is supposed to commemorate the track as Toyota own part of it or something..lol

Also it's just because I love the LF-A, I think it'd be the perfect car.

Try and take the corners late, but slowly as well and eventually build up your speed, you'll get into a rhythm and also hit all the apexs without understanding off the track after hitting them.

D1 also use this track for drifting, so you could drift around..but I don't see the point in that.

I would suggest simply cruising around the track without worrying about speed or time to appreciate and get a feel for it.

ahh Fuji speedway. This is probably one of the few tracks I can't get the hang of. I'm planning to drive on fuji more. There's definitely a good amount of odd corners and blind corners.

I would probably take a nimble car with very little power and just drive around to get a feeling for where the right apexes are. Driving a powerful car when learning a track can hinder progress imo because you will have a hard time trying to judge/modulate your speed and learn the track at the same time.
