can the corvette zo6 be upgraded into race trim? or the standard one be up graded?

Hi I just made it to level 12 (sorry not enough time to play all day) and I need to get a FR car for one of the events. I was going to grind to get my level up to buy the corvette if it can be upgraded to the race trim version found in gt5p. Which one can be upgraded? Is it worth it over just buying a prancing horse lol!

Thanks for the link I am on my cell phone at work and somtimes things don't load up during my break. This was the best option.
