Hello to all,

Ok first, i dont want this tread to turn into a real mess, that i not my goal!

So please dont feed the fire! We are all mature people here (well, I hope so!)

Im posting this because since Nov 24, i played alot online manning my own servers (Maybe you came across thoses called : EVO vs STI, STREET TUNED CAR ONLY)

I only promote good and clean racing with a good attitude, and the formula work extremely well. I love kicking bad and immature players, and i am pretty quick on the trigger on this...

But there is somthing that really starting to p*** me off really bad: Can you tell me what US players have against CAN players and vice versa?

Im a french canadian, i love racing against others country (This is a pretty good cultural exchange!) but 9 times out of 10, US guys start the mess...I dont know why.... They start ramming cars on track, blocking, bitching against us, after that they are calling us by any inimaginable words (i will not write this down here, you can get a good image...🤬) Are you in war with Canada or what???

Seriously, explain me why such bad attitude is happening like that! In general its always the same things... Its pretty sad because lets say, in average i find only 2 or 3 GOOD US RACERS daily out of 20 online! WTF?? I looks like some of you guys thinks its a demoition derby race! I dont counts anymore how many times we get rammed after a clean pass! You seems to have some difficulty to accept the fact that you've been passed!

Other things a noticed: People have alot of troubles understanding REGULATIONS. Ill give you some example:

1)The servers name is STREET TUNED CAR ONLY... Why do you enter with a RACE CAR????
2)Why always asking to re-adjust HP/KGs of the cars because your favorite car doesn't meet the server regulation???? Stick to the rules or come back when you have a proper car! When i refused to do it, the hate circus start again....🤬

You see, what i want to do here is to settle this te right way. I am tired to have a bad opinion on US players everytime online! Come on dudes!

I want to know your point of view on this. WITHOUT STARTING A WAR. If you do so...Well.... Looks you are the person concerned! Be a man and talk with intelligence, not like a redneck ;)

It probably won't be fixed by this thread, it does not appear to US vs. Canadian, but rather Immature vs. Serious racers kind of thing.

In any case it might help if you create a thread here specific for your race/s (which sounds great by the way). Have a thread similar to this one https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=170765. Where folks get in there expecting a serious event. It does not have to scheduled either, you can just give a couple of hours in advance and folks like me can check your thread when we are online.

You come in here with direct insults to all American racers and expect this to not turn into a war? Good luck with that. 👎

Sorry dude if you feel insulted with that, but in my point of view i just wrote the facts..

Prove me wrong!

Being American, I'm not actually surprised that this happens to you.
I really can't stand it either when my fellow countrymen are bringing shame to the rest of their nation.
It happens every time I join a multicultural race, there will always be some sort of battle over some American making fun of someone elses accent.

It's even worse on CoD though...

I've done atleast 200 online races so far in alot of diff cars.

American drivers are by far way dirtier than foreigners. Americans are more aggressive, less likely to have a good laugh, and more likely to be dictatorial as room moderators.

The nicest drivers on average are Australians and Germans. Both drive far better on road courses.

American player's biggest weak spot is the southerners. The southern people cannot hold a line, they are frequently as drunk as they suck, and are generally annoying. The spammers that want to trade and dupe cars are mainly southerners from what Ive seen. The ones who in general cant have a civilized race without crashing are the southerners. Most of the turn arounds who drive the wrong way are southerners too.

During the Civil war we burned them to the ground, annihilated them. Not a surprise.

OK, this is just plain strange and 100% opposite of my experiences online. No idea why you are having problems with guys from the USA. I've hosted quite a few races recently with people from all over the world. Everyone seemed to think it was just great to have such diversity. Of course, I would have immediately kicked anyone engaged in the type of behavior you describe. Sometimes we do like to tease Canadians (IRL), but generally I think that's just because we like Canada so much; beautiful cities, great music, fantastic songwriters poets and writers, maybe a bit more social equity (at least as far as us outsiders can tell), half-way-decent beer, very strange humor. But that's all very good-natured stuff, nothing at all like you describe. It's a shame that your experience has been so poor. On behalf of all intelligent United Statians (wait, do we have any?), I apologize for the behavior of the buffoons. (Also, don't forget that a lot of kids play video-games. It could be you got in with a lot of teenagers, who as we all know are nearly universally complete morons. And yes teens, I include my younger-self in that, so don't get all self-rightous.)

This^^ is your answer.

Maybe those American drivers are mad that, if you shunt your car into a wall at 150mph, you won't have to sell your house to get the medical treatment you might need?!

Seriously, though, you have to blame American media... Americans are raised on a diet of almost entirely home-grown TV, full of violence and sex, and are spoon-fed a diet of 'USA is the greatest, the ONLY 'free' country in the world'. And, after forty years of education cutbacks, mostly incapable of seeing that for the 'big lie' it is...

Or, maybe it just boils down to the States, still (despite the recession) being a wealthy nation, and loads and LOADS of under ten-year-old kids have a PS3 and GT5? :)

... and Stargate the TV series specifically Amanda Tapping. :dopey:

I don't really encounter this that much. If anything i find it is mostly UK vs USA and little kids shooting arguments back and forth. I personally have no problem with the UK or Canada.

Wow, its nice to see good replys :) Its fun to see that i am not the only one witnessing this....

I say it again: I have nothing against US, so dont think i hate you guys! I worked alot with americans while i was in the military, on missions and exercise, and god damn a had so much fun with them!

I just want to remove the ''dirty racing'' Tags ! I got an idea for PD on futher update: Make a demolition derby track and a drag strip! 70% of the problem will be solved ;)

Yeah ok, im a little sarcarstic, but im right about th track update! lol

I usually find that North American and UK racers get along well, probably due to the shared language.

What I do notice though is it seems some English-speakers from the U.S. have a problem with French Canadians for some reason. Maybe it's because of a noticable accent, but I still find it strange, and stupid to try and kick or mock racers because of where they come from.

Anyone from Québec knows it is very, very different from France (thank God) but it still gets typical French stereotypes in online multiplayer games, the U.S. media, etc.

As a bilingual (English/French) person from Montréal, I just have a low tolerance for ignorance/stupidity coming from anyone. The great thing about Gran Turismo 5 multiplayer has been racing NASCAR rooms with thick Southern accents, thick Scottish accents, and laughing to myself about it.

I'm with ya man, check my signature.

Regarding the OP, it does offend me a little. What you stated are definitely not the facts about all of us, and it doesn't feel good to know that people see us that way. We can have a race any day, and I guarantee you it won't fit any of the descriptions you put up.

I'm a US player who regularly races with the same people. Some of them are from Canada and some are UK. We all get along pretty well. I have run into some people in random rooms who start a pissing contest but the group I stay with are a great bunch of people. I love racing with people from different places.

Real mature.

Nice, now we speak the same language! what you just said is right the point i was trying to bring dude! I want to remove that ''tag'' too. I cant stand stupidity either.

C'est tu le fun de voir un peu de francais qui partage le meme point de vue que moi :dopey:

I'm an American.... I consider myself to be a pretty respectful to the other racers. I won't purposely spin someone out or push them off the track, but if I have to I will cut a few people off in order to win, I will. It's not disrespectful it's just racing.

And as far as all the stereotypes go, plain and simple. It doesn't matter where they're are from dicks are dicks and every country has them, and you will run into some of them online. If you don't want to run into any only play with people you know.

Normally the Southerners can be found playing NASCAR.....

It's amazing how mature this community is when handling a situation as delicate as this.
Wow is all I can say.

As a Canadian, I can't say I've come across this too much actually.

Don't forget, the Americans outnumber us 10-1 so you are much more likely to have more Americans in your lobby than Canadians. I usually just leave the "US" box checked when searching for lobbies, which seems to mean the Americas, not the USA (let's not even go there with that one...)

Try putting the word "clean" in your room title. It probably doesn't mean much, but it might help scare off some of the blatantly dirty drivers.

It has nothing to do with America or Canada; I've seen a good deal of Canadians badmouthing Quebec for no good reason too. Modern North American culture simply breeds people who don't like people who sound or look different from them... and because there are a helluva lot more Americans than Canadians, the population of American idiots will of course be higher than Canadian idiots.

If it's really giving you trouble, try hosting or sticking to low-power lobbies with tyre restrictions. These kinds of people are usually also the ones who crash their X2010s with racing soft tyres on the first turn, badmouth everyone they crash into along the way, and then leave right after doing so.

Come and join me in my room. Some of the fastest, cleanest, and lighthearted U.S. racers in the country. I love racing with drivers from other countries. You are right - they typically have far better manners than a lot of Americans. Honestly, I think it's the overall level of ignorance with respect to real road course racing, it's less a part of our culture than many other countries. Also, lot's of American kids are very ignorant and agressive. It is what it is. But just know, there are MANY clean and devastatingly fast U.S. racers, you just need to find them.

^^^ This is a great guy to race with (hope you're fast enough to keep up with him though!) :)

There are idiots everywhere. The USA just has a much higher percentage of idiots with enough money to have a PS3, GT5, and internet access. If you want to avoid them, just avoid open lobbies.

C'est tu le fun de voir un peu de francais qui partage le meme point de vue que moi :dopey:

👍

I'm a french canadian too, and I get kicked out a lot by other french people thinking I'm american cause I dont have a mic and I beat them in races

Also, I think its pretty lame from us, french canadian, when we start bashing american just to make them leave the lobby :scared:

Same when its the opposite.

I've had some good races in "demolition derby" race, not all the field will try to crash others car, just stay back the first 2 corner and then you can race normaly :dopey:

As an outsider to this debate, I've come across some genuinely nice Americans while racing. My biggest problem seems to always be with French racers or anybody with a name that looks like ThIs.

Southern American here... I hate NASCAR, and I love hockey, Canada and clean, competitive racing.

The problem you are complaining about...It's immaturity plain and simple. Whether it's coming from a 12 year old, or a 42 year old, it's immaturity, and you will find it RAMPANT in online games. Just find a good group to race with and stick with them.

I agree with the opinion that this has more to do with immaturity than nationality. There are just more people from the USA online, therefore like a post said earlier, there are more idiots from the USA online than from any other country since there are more people from the USA online overall.

I, however, have had no such issues with any one nationality online. I'm from India, but since I live in Canada, my car has a little Canadian flag above it on the track. So, to all the other racers on the track, I am Canadian, and on occassion there has been some friendly banter in the lobby. It's usually been all good-natured and funny.

I am part of another racing series on here with about 30 members. I think 25 members are from the US and 5 from Canada, but man it's been a blast racing with them all. I havent met a more fun, competitive and sporting group of racers to date.

And, just FYI, the members are from all over the states, not just any one region!

I'm American. I don't think the problem is the US v CAN thing. More of a Mature Racer Vs. reckless driver type of thing.

And that, i have a strong ethic about.
(Be warned, these reasons contradict each other)
1. This is racing, If i'm in the lead, i will fight for the line
-but also i will move over if the pass is inevitable to save my race.
2. I CAN NOT STAND IT WHEN ON THE FIRST TURN PEOPLE USE OTHER PEOPLES CARS AS BUMPERS!
-that said, i do it to, but not on purpose
3. I despise rooms that are on Sarthe or what ever, and the title of the room is somthing about real racers only.
and I'm like "Oh cool, love this track, doubt their will be any jerks in there that block the road and drag race on the straitaways"
only to be like "Oh damn. there is jerks in here who block the road and drag race on the straitaways"
-but, i also am a fan of a good 'ol Smashing-Up-An-Expensive-Car to relieve stress.
4. I can't stand it when people on dis you on a mic and assume you can't here them, or play loud music through it, and are just general tools to other people, then boot you.
5. and THERES TO MANY HONDA ONLY events
and not enough non-drifting on Tsukabu.

wew.... im done with my rant. A little off topic..... but *catches breath* got some anger out of the system...
