Can you go backwards in career?

I'm just wondering as I am attempting the triple crown after I do Zero to Hero and defending the title so can you go backwards?
yes you can, at least i could when i messed it up.

Under the message section, contract offer, every end of the season you still have all the old contract offers.. mistaking i selected karts when i was in gt4 and went there.

However i'm doing zero to hero too. Here what i think i'm gonna do:
- firstly play from season 1 to season 8, from karts to LMP1 without doing any invitational events, even if you unlock almost all of them.
- once in GT3 i'll move to LMP2 and then LMP1, this allows to achieve triple crown accolade
- in LMP1 i will defend the title for 3 yrs in a row so up to season 11
- Once done in season 11 i will do all the uncloked invitational events and go backwards to WEC.
- In season 12 just random playing trying to get all the championships i left behind and go 108/108.

Off course i'm not considering DLCs which may spoil this path

Pretty much what I'm doing.
I did 0 invitational events. Going 125cc Karts to 250cc Karts to Formula R to Formula Gulf (definitely take this if you are looking for an easy path) to Formula C to GT3 to LMP2 to LMP1. Also I thought the Triple Crown was win three diciplines three times :embarrassed:. But I'm going to go back to Formula A to win the defending champ Historic Goal and then I will try to perfect the game. BUT I don't know how those coming soon panels are going to affect the career but if it is DLC I will probably buy it.

@paulpg87 I'm liking your post so I can refer back to it as a roadmap when my PC arrives. Right now I'm just messing around with GT3s on Xbone and having a lot of fun. Damn that F1 invitational is difficult though.

However i read somewhere that there is a bug which prevents you to access to older contracts (i.e. Contracts disappear). I still have all the contracts and can move back.

No problems Paul, I'll see how it goes. If the worst happens I can always start another career like @Scaff advised me on the PS4 Career Mode thread. Will give this way a try though.

I am running up for the 0 to hero currently in LMP1.

I went karts>super karts> Formula Rookie> GT5> LMP3>LMP2>LMP1

At the end of each season I had contract offers to go down in class as well as up in class and cross over to other type of racing. I think when I completed the LMP2 season I had offers for karts, superkarts, touring cars, formula C, GT3 and others

I did zero to hero and completed the LMP1 championship.
After that I jumped back to an old contract for GT4 with no problems.
Just finished 3 seasons in GT4 and now signed a contract for GT3.

All my contract offers are still available to select.
Oh, I'm on the PC version.

Although this post is old I'd like to thank you guys for posting this info. Although I pre-ordered Project Cars it wasn't till about a week ago when I actually started playing the game. I hated it at first and thought it was a waste of money because I could not get use to the handling physics of this game (as opposed to GT and Forza series games). Anyways, I'm currently going for Zero to Hero and I was wondering the same thing as well. So far I have done nothing but open wheel racing. I'm currently at Formula B but once I am done with LMP1 I would like to go back to GT3 and maybe even Formula Rookie.

I always thought it would be good in a sim, that if you were performing badly, your team sacked you! "I'm sorry [insert your name here], but we're gonna have to let you go."

Fired by a video game!

I'm interested in skipping some of the invitationals like you guys have said and just focusing on career events only, but don't invitational races and how well you perform in them count towards what contracts you're offered at the end of the season?

And if i skip the invitationals, are they there to do in future seasons? Like do the same ones come round every year?

Yes, the same ones will always be there, even ones you have previously completed. I dont think that they have any bearing in what contracts you get offered, but completing them does unlock further invitationals.

TL;DR: No, yes, yes.

How many seasons did it take for you to complete the zero to hero?
