Nord, as in Nordic
Schleif, as in it rhymes with life
Uh, as in... uh.
Nordschleife. 5 years of German has done me some good, I guess.

It is strange to try because the English language doesn't have the same phonetic sounds as the German language. The ä,ö, and ü sounds are difficult when you just are learning German, and I've noticed that Non-native German speakers all have a different way they say it/have become comfortable saying it.

Yeah, but as a native german speaker that's the best phonetic help I can imagine.

Hey, not trying to insult you! Just putting in my two cents. I had a native German-speaking teacher for 2 of 5 years, so I got lucky in that regard.

One of the reasons I took German to begin with was because I loved the Nürburgring. It is my dream to drive it someday.

Haha don't worry, I didn't pick it up as an insult.
Our versions should give the most accurate results .

Glad you had a native speaker as a teacher...
My English teachers were all crap.
When I finished school I had such a poor English, most of my English now comes from watching movies etc in English, playing games in english and talking to a lot of foreign people in english.

My Swedish girlfriend got a big kick out of this thread because people struggle with her and her sister's names. Also, you didn't necessarily "flirt" with her, however you may have gotten the ball rolling when it comes to breaking the ice. 👍

So in relationship advice: I send to you that you done good kid, but you've got some trekking ahead. Keep on talking to her and prove you can carry on an interesting/fun conversation, and then maybe she'll let you to her to her favorite place for a nice German beer or two?

/Also, never tell her about this thread.

That's awesome.

I think.:odd:

ner-br-guh-ring XD, aaahahaha, i pronounce it noor-bur-gri-ng nord-schl-eif-eh

do you think she thought you were flirting or just had a question?

Sorry, no pics fellas. You'll just have to take my word on it. Im well liked at work by all the nurses I work with, and me and another guy nurse are known as the work "funny guys". Im not a nurse, I do clerical work. But I cant all of a sudden go from the popular guy everyone likes to laugh with, to the creepy guy that snaps covert photos of the hot women he works with to please a few guys in an internet thread. 👎

Now that I even brought this up, I'll have to make an effort to see if there was a ring on her finger, cause I cant remember right now, lol.

I'll just say she has short brown hair that isnt dyed, 99.9% of guys would marry her on looks alone, despite not having Heidi Klums body, so you can slow down your fapping speed just a little, lol.

do you think she thought you were flirting or just had a question?

I dont think so, but, what I left out was at the end she asks "What is that?" "Oh, its just a race track in a video game" (revealing my concealed nerdism perhaps a bit too much, lol) "Oh" she said. And then I let her get back to work.

So yeah, not flirt flirting per say, but I enjoyed it, lol.

But seriously, how are you from Germany and you dont know about that race track? Women. lol

You should have said "a legendary race track in Germany, where I wanna go and have some fun" instead of this -_-'

I think you may have lost her with "Oh, its just a race track in a video game".

So did you see the Rhine yet or what?

I think you may have lost her with "Oh, its just a race track in a video game".

Probably. Though like I said, I wasnt trying to score, just flirt a bit. After she left I was repeating that last line to myself, and thinking dumb, dumb, why did you have to say 'video game', lol. Oh well, it didnt ruin anything because there was nothing there to begin with. Shes just one in a parade full of hot women that walk by my desk.

hahaha i'm sorry but this is too funny man ;')

Thats why Im the work funny man. I can make the hot women laugh at anything, even at my own expense. Its a gift. :)

*FACEPALM*

The right answer: It's a famous race track I'm hoping try out on my next vacation. I'm trying to learn more German for my trip. I hope you don't mind if I sometimes ask for a little help with my German?

Wrong answer: It's from a VIDEO GAME. I love playing video games. Do you want to play video games with me?

Just teasing you but yeah your game needs a little work ;)

Yeah if there's one sure fire way to lose a girl's attention (unless you already know she's a gamer) is to utter the word "Videogame".

Yeah, but part of what makes me so successful with talking to any woman I want is that my game has no game. Meaning, where most women can sense a guy TRYING to have game, its obvious I dont give a F, and I say what I want to say, within limits of course. They all feel at ease with me and say ANYTHING around me. You wont believe the conversations they've let me in on. When I was younger full nerd in high school, I was petrified. Now at 33 Ive got balls of steel, with an insane amount of confidence. And women are attracted to confident and funny guys, even if we betray a tad of dorkiness from time to time.

And theres no way Im going to blow smoke up her ass pretending Im going to Germany, help me study, yada yada. Shes an intelligent pharmacist, she wasnt born yesterday.

Hehe what MowTin said ^^ However, good luck @ work and with the girls :-)

Exactly... you have a lot to learn.

I was convinced that was going to turn into a soft porn story! My ex was German, she was hot too. Gotta love frauline's :)

If I see a hot Belgian girl, I'll ask her how to say Spa francorchamps correctly.:sly:

You've got red in your name!

The last three letters of my middle name are der, and my last name is Tinius. When you reverse the two you get Red, and Suinit. Stick those together and you get RedSuinit. :D

A hint on pronouncing anything in German: There are no silent "E"s, and it's easiest to get the accent right if you talk like you have a deep anger broiling just under the surface.

As for flirting, maybe now you can tell her that you're planning on going there after you take European delivery of a BMW, and ask if she'd like to come. Of course, if she says yes, you'll have to actually buy a BMW to take European delivery... OK, maybe just tell her GT5 has a flattering view of the Rhineland countryside and ask if she'd like to go for an e-spin.
