Here's an interesting feature I found on MSNBC.com...

"Baggage screening is our last defense against terrorist at airports. If you've always wondered what it was like to be a baggage screener, now is your chance. This website (brought to you by MSNBC) lets you take a 2-minute shift in that important position. After a quick introduction, your job will be to "red flag" any bags containing potential threats (bombs, guns, knives...). Don't mess up!"

I got 66% of the threatening materials out of 15 bags on my first try. Click here to try it out yourself!

I got 62%. 23 bags checked, 8 had threats, 2 false alarms. It never did grade me though. Very interesting!

Hmm, maybe I will try out for the job or something...:D

I spotted 1 with 5 false alarms :S

Dang, pfffsh!, you rocked that one. I got 85% correct scan, 18 bags, 4 false alarms.

23 bags checked, 4 threats, 100%.

20 bags
2 threats
100%
1 false alarm

Didn't see any knives. :s

Mine was BS its showed a pistol and I never even saw that one.

Out of two tries I had one 100%. I missed a pocket knife.

C
Got 7 false alarms
but I did identify the one bag containing a gun.

But after Sept. 11, I think I'd rather have more false alarms and have No guns, knive, or explosives on the planes.

If you're in a damn hurry, and your destination airport is in the middle of nowwhere, or more than an hour driving from your actual destination, Drive. If you're less than a 3 hour flight from where you're going you'll prolly get there in the same amount of time.

Wow, interesting.

Scanned 20
Threats 5
Identified 80%
False 3
Score 71

That's not always true. Just take fewer bags like everyone else. To fly from Little Rock to Dallas, a 55 minute flight, it takes me about 3.5 hours from arriving at aiport A to leaving airport B. If I were to drive the same distance it would take over 5 hours. I save 1.5 hours and wear on my car. Little Rock to Chicago was about 2 hours in the air, and it would be 10 hours on the road.

If you know how to get through airports effeciently and have something to bide your time while you wait on your plane it's much faster to fly.

I got 79%!!

That's the percentage of how many you spotted. But how many did you get wrong? The important thing is your score.

i did even better the 2nd time!!

14 bags and only 1 with a threat...it was an obvious gun. Too easy, but I could have gone faster.

Cheesy fonts and interactive media.

Seriously... a game to generate the public's interest?

All apologies if my absolute horror is undue...

:odd: Well, this isn't an attempt to generate the public's interest. It's a feature from MSNBC, the news channel/website, that offers anyone curious a chance to see what it is like to screen baggage and how difficult some dangerous threats can be to spot. It doesn't seem like a bad thing to me.

   Is it just my speakers or is she lisping like a son of a *****??

100%, 20 bags, no false alarms, but only 2 threats overall. I could see how someone on an 8-hour shift could make a mistake...

It sure does lag on a dial-upi connection, though.

5%.................i hate this damm game:tdown::grumpy:

can anyone post a pic (and hightligh of a) of a knife. I didn't see any, and I havent seen any in your screen shots.

as far as im concerned, there are no pocket knives to find......but seeing as how i found almost nothing......its probably just my noticing skills:lol:

The threats I got were both knives. Its a folded pocket knife. So you can't really see the blade. Just looks like a small knife-handle.
