Obviously, with a rear wing, you can adjust rear downforce. How come when I buy the rear wing and front splitter/sides, I can still only adjust rear downforce? I've tried this with two cars so far, and in both cases, I bought the front and rear aero pieces at the same time (select each, then click "Buy Aero" to buy both), in case that makes a difference. Considering how insanely overpriced these pieces are, I'm not happy.

I think it did make sense - you have to consider what the parts actually are.
Rear wings of the type available in GT5 are normally adjustable to a certain extent (in game and IRL).
Front aero mods (GT5 and IRL) aren't normally adjustable - they split the air (hence the name splitters) and allow less of it to travel UNDER the car and more to travel AROUND the car. This is good for aerodynamic perfomance and generates a small amount of downforce.
Because such splitters are moulded (or molded in the US) they're fixed in position.
RM cars generally have a tippable 'tray' arrangement and also feature strakes on the bumper corners (fenders?) that can be slightly adjusted too.
That explains why the 'standard' splitters aren't adjustable in GT5 while those fitted to Race Spec/Race Mod cars are.

Don't know how realistic GTR2 is in this regard but i recall that the FIA GT race cars have only 2 settings for front aero too. Not even all the race cars have freely adjustable front aero settings...

I understand the benefit of a splitter diverting air, but I would think that for the money those aero mods command, the front would be the adjustable type (usually with sex bolts or tie rods), but at the very least, front downforce is often increased due to the plane added by the splitter.

To change front downforce on a car with a splitter, you increase the length of the splitter WRT the front of the car. For instance if you increase it from 25mm to 50mm you will get more downforce at the front. You can also lower some of them in some cars, further increasing downforce.
Oh and just because you can't adjust it doesn't mean you aren't getting an advantage from it

I must admit, after waiting all day excitedly looking forward to getting into the motor sport Elise 99 and spending ages getting the cash together to tune it, i am fuming that the car drives awful due to there being no downforce at the front and only 15 at the back.
