I'm brand new to PC gaming so I hope this is something simple. I've downloaded and installed drivers from Thrustmaster to no avail. Wheel red light shines briefly and wheel does a partial spin and that's it. Still works fine with GT6 on PS3. War Thunder works great with mouse and keyboard so Steam seems to work OK. Update: It was the USB extension cable.

A quick search found this:

Hi, I am experiencing the same behavior with a Logitech Driving Force Wireless wheel. I did not need to install any drivers to get the wheel working, including force feedback. For me, I get into Steam from the Alpha UI by unplugging the steering wheel's wireless USB dongle first, loading Steam, then plugging the dongle back in once the game has started (Autosport GRID in my case). Otherwise I experience the same repeated down inputs in the Steam menu if I have the wheel's USB dongle plugged in at the same time as the XBox 360 controller's receiver. Force feedback has been working fine for me so far, but I may not have had a long enough game session yet to allow the XBox 360 controller to time out.

Did you run it through the calibration in the controls menu? It won't work if you don't do that first, neither will your pedals/shifter.

But if it's only doing a partial spin it could be something else, it should spin all the way left, then right, and then back to center when you first turn it on.
