Can't I change tyres during arcade race if it starts raining?

Was racing in arcade mode and it started raining so I went into the pits and all I could do was drive right through. Was in the Shelby Daytona 64 and It was almost impossible to drive in the rain on slicks.
Am I missing something or has that option been left out too?

And make sure visual damage is on. If it's off the track will never get wet and would never need to change.

If it rains during a single player race, you can also switch to any tire you want. Was doing a road tire race (can't remember which) and it rained. I pit to change to rain tires...not sure if you can even put them on road cars, but I tried out of curiosity and you could choose to run any tire on the list, if you've bought it for that car. Switched to racing hards and it worked. Bizarre.

I'm testing now, I can change tyres. You just need to purchase the tyres first.

All the tires are purchased on the car I was testing. Silverstone international, raining, I do a lap and pit and I never get to chose tires just drive through.

What am I missing?

No such setting in arcade races.

It is in the main settings and if that is off you cannot change tyres, or do I have to go into GT6 and do a picture and then upload it?

You cant change from wet to dry tires IN RACE. That is the point of this thread.

He means you can't change tires or pit during a race in arcade mode.

Short answer is Arcade Mode is sucky and pointless.

Maybe it depends on the track? I did a race in arcade mode at Autumn Ring, I could change tires in the pit.

I'm in a single race.
Set track surface to 100% wet.
Weather: dry
Weather changeability: 5
AI temperament: 0
started on RH tyres. Pulled in pits end of lap 1 and no menu to change tyres.

Tried again.
5 laps
Weather: 50%
Weather Change: 5
Surface: 50%
Grip: Real
AI: 10
RH tyres at start. Pulled in pit no menu.

Restart.
100% weather, surface, no weather change.
Start on RH tyres. Pulled in pits. No menu.

Ah that's right, sorry. But the description of the option, there, seems accurate. No effect on weather or whether the pit crew is there. At RBR there was nobody (I had only comfort and sports tyres available), so it was a drivethrough.

Thought I'd have a little mess around with this:

Main options>arcade>visual damage on.

Car BMW GT (Motorsport) 11 on a set of RMs with IM and full wets purchased.
Track Autumn Ring
30 laps arcade mode

Track settings
Weather 100%
Changeability 5
Surface water 0 (so that within a couple of laps it should go above 30% and require IM tires)
Grip level Real.

By the end of lap 2 the surface water had reached 35% so I pitted. Menu came up giving me tire change option defaulted to IM tires. So I accepted. Car stopped in pits, crew did a sterling job and sent me on my way. The sun was out and by the end of that lap the surface water was 0% so I pitted. Up came the tire change menu with RM as default. I accepted, the crew once more excelled themselves and I continued on my way.

I am going to try this on another track. Hope this helps:tup:

Edit: just tried the Red Bull Ring (had to alter the change ability settings as it would start drying up after 21%. Changed it to 3)

Same results as above. But before changing the weather change ability setting, I went into the pits at 18% wet and no tire menu popped up. So I think we need to pit only once we have reached the percentage thresholds for each type of tire. Can't remember what they are off hand:tup:

Thanks.

This is unbelievably stupid, restrictive, and pointless of PD though. Why even have an Arcade mode if you can't even choose when to change your tires?

I know!! I wouldn't risk Sarthe or the Nurbie on racing tires above 30% - that's a long way back to the pits. Though part of me thinks that once you have triggered the tire menu, it's there for the rest of the race: after pitting for IMs at RbR I went back into the pits at 30% (not needing to change tires) and the menu was there.

And to finish off, just done a test of the Daytona road course, same results as rest.👍

You and the AI cant change the tires because the tire/fuel wear isnt on.

You know, the setting you can change ON GT5!!!
