Can't Reach Top Speeds?

I have a Bugatti Veyron and Mclaren F1 and I know their top speeds. 253mph and 241mph, but I have not even come close to either of those.

I sent the Veyron on SS7 and got it up to 243mph, and then it wouldn't climb any higher. But it was even worse with the F1, I put it on LM (No Chicanes) and only got it up to like 212mph. And with the F1 at least, there was no turning to be done, it was completely straight. It just wouldn't give any more. the oil is fine and the engines are fine. What's wrong?

They just won't go any higher, neither hit the rev limiter, they just get to those speeds and won't go any higher for what seems like forever (only about halfway through big straight in LM with F1 before it stopped climbing). I know the Veyron has the spoiler up for part of the time, so is there a way to put that down?

Put the downforces to the minimum, change the gearboxes and keep the air pressure as low as you can. You could do this by drafting.
Oh, and the Veyron's spoiler changes at 370km/h.

I dont know about the McLaren but the Veyron needs like 5 miles to hit top speed and SS7 and La Sarthe are no where near that long.

F1 Street car, or race car? The race car can't hit the purported top speed... more drag. And yes, it takes a long time to get there.
