I'm having an issue with seeing my friends in the online rooms. Our NAT types are the same (or should be), we're able to race with the same people at the same time but neither of us can see the other in the race. We don't show up on the racer list on the right side of the screen but we can see our names in the lobby (often showing the loading bars beneath the names). We are able to talk via VOIP.

I'm not sure what I can do. Anyone have ideas?

don't do the standard online games

Have your friend go into community, then their lounge..

Once they've set up their lounge, everyone else goes into community, and that person's lounge..

I personally only race with my friends anyways.. thats the best way to do it.

Otherwise get them to send you the 16 billion character lounge ID and you can join by that id.. it only takes about 8 hours to type it in on a DS3 controller.......lol

Well I have seen this before with a friend of mine. And it only happens with my one friend and he is the only one with an unstable internet connection. Anyways if he joins a room I made he can play with me just fine, but sometimes he can't see other people that are also in the room. I was tripping out because he told me that there was only 4 people in the room when we had over 8. So not believing him we both sent each other picture texts and sure as hell there where missing people. The funny thing is the some of the people he couldn't see were beating him and he had no clue. It would still say he won even if he came in third. So then I found out his internet had a splitter in it and we took I out and it hasn't happened since.

Same story in the community lounges. Trouble with the private lounges is you get lower race quality.

how so? All my online races with friends have been flawless..

Any of your friends hosting off a dial-up connection by any chance?

im having same issue with my friend, sometimes i see him and we play just fine... other times i dont and all i see is her name with the loading line underneath. reseting our routers seems to help but other times even doing that doesnt fix the problem. sometimes she cant even join my lunge or an open game. it says incompatibility to host. error 768... poliphony or sony need to look into this seeing as theres many people having this issue. =/

Me too. Sometimes it shows them loading at the list at right before enter track but they are in the track and i can't see them. It 's very annoying...

It can help if one or both of you back out of the room and come back in and let it fully load. I used to be able to see people with loading lines all the time and I'm pretty sure it was them that had a bad connection. I had a wired connection with a NAT type 2 just for reference. Since then I switched my ISP and set up a static IP for my PS3 plus I put my PS3 in a DMZ on my router. I haven't seen a person with loading line since but others report seeing them every night.

Here is the guide that I used. http://forums.station.sony.com/dcuops3/posts/list.m?topic_id=10560
