Capcom to hire 100's of devs to deal with increased demand

While I understand the sentiment, having the right people in place and taking time developing the games are more important than bringing in a bunch of new people just to produce games to satisfy demand. Satisfying demand for the sake of satisfying demand is how bad games are produced.

Further, it takes some time for a new person to step into a company and become very productive. It is not something that is going to happen over night. And while there will be a few that rise quickly, those are not the norm. These type of things are not something someone can just step into and knock out of the park. Patience, lots of bug testing, and quality control review are what makes good games.

I agree with you. It takes time to train someone. especially in a field like computer programming. but it s not like it s never been done before.
For example, Ubi soft, to just name one developer, seems to be producing games, which are mostly well rated, every year.
I certainly don't want to start a Forza/GT war ( I used to own a 360 and enjoyed Forza very much) but Turn 10 is able to produce a very decent racing game about every two years. whether it s outsourcing or else, I m not sure, but I'm convinced understaffing is an issue at Polyphony.

There comes a point when there are too many hands involved and it hurts the process. There is only so much each person can do and not get in the way of others. Certain things have to be built first before other things can be done. And while the process can certainly be refined to allow more people to work at once, there is still limits to what that number is. Now if you were to question the people involved needing to be swapped out with different people, then that would be different.

Ubisoft is not really a great example to compare to Polyphony Digital. Ubisoft would be better compared to Activision, EA, or Sony Computer Entertainment. Ubisoft is the publisher of the games and not the developer. Polyphony Digital is a development studio within Sony Computer Entertainment. For example, within Ubisoft, the Assassin's Creed games are developed by the Ubisoft Montreal studio.

The two year development cycle probably has more to do with Microsoft Studios pushing Turn 10 to put out a game every two years. The difference is that Sony allows Polyphony to take however long they want to develop the games. That is two different company philosophies on how games are made. Neither is right or wrong. However, I will say in many instances the former tends to result in more unpolished games.

Capcom in all honesty however need them. They've been terrible communicating with fans and lost quite a few. The DmC revamp left many unimpressed, they also ditched two very promising franchises "Sengoku BASARA" and "Onimusha" overseas due to broken promises and poor communication with fans.

That very well be the case that Capcom need the additional staff. However, the premise of this thread is using Capcom as an example on what Polyphony Digital may or may not need to do with their staffing. The thread topic, outside of the misleading thread title, has nothing to actually do with Capcom as a company.

Street Fighter V and Rival Schools 3?
They are looking for new FG game Developers, they tweeted back in December. I am surprised they are using players like Combofied, Alex Valle, and taking advantage of Location testing for USFV.

People are always saying "Kaz can learn from this developer or that developer" Why wont they get out there and make some software, write some code. Kaz's team is doing just fine.

Im not so sure how fine their doing. Yes they still sell millions of games, but that is mostly due to fan loyalty. Look at the sales for GT6, while great numbers for most games its down considerable from previous titles. That is a direct result of what they have choosen to focus on. I think Kaz has become a bit full of himself and GT is suffering because of it. I think his priorities are off on what fans want from GT. The main reason I say this is his comments on sound in GT despite the fans crying for better sounds. Kaz response to the sound is that they are accurate. Really? Accurate to what? Whats in his head? I think he needs to get out of his head and listen to the game hes produced. It is pretty pathetic that he cant see the issue or doesn't care to resolve it. Once PD isn't the only game on the block their sales are gonna fall like a rock.

Of course you can always drive on the moon or look at the stars at night. That's what the GT series has been lacking.

Don't forget Mega Man. 4 titles canceled since the infamous Mega Man Legends 3 cancellation in 2012, and nothing officially released for his 25th anniversary.

Mighty No.9 is being the replacement for Mega Man Legends 3

I must disagree with you on Kaz hasn't been hearing anyone. You brought up one key area that ALMOST everyone has been complaining about the sound. For one the full sound engine has yet to be installed and Kaz CLEARLY stated it would not be installed until later due to the sound crew and he are yet satisfied with the results. There have been items that have returned to GT6 from GT5P and GT5. The dreaded power limiter which isn't correct in any fashion has returned from GT5P, Quick Matches will be returning from GT5P, Improper addition of power to race cars has returned from GT5 just to satisfy the people who like to run all the race cars together instead of running them properly with in class. And we're getting new additions the the title, community features, championship features along with the club features that should have shown up in GT5.

As for sales, if they fall so be it. Though it would be to the number of other options out there but those sales will not falter for long as those small few may get bored of those other options. Or they may come back to GT due to the options , features, cars that were added. Yes there are others out there that will be offering some iconic cars but nothing to the standers of GT. GT is more than a game, it's a history book if you bother to open you eye's and a tool which has produced 3 time Championship, along with having the pass GT Academy members sitting on the podium is almost every race they've entered. If they do happen to catch up with what GT has done it was due to what they've learned and seen. GT has set the stage once again with the addition of "GT VISION" , which will further the true drivers love of cars.

You remind me of some many people that say this and that about someones product, on how it should be like this or that, or they can learn from these programmers or this company. Which is just hot air. If you think the product could be better why can't you get off your tail and learn something to see if you can build a better product. If you're not up to it then you should just pipe up and let things fall in place or give the CORRECT feed back to make the sim and I see or the game as you all see better.

Gamer's will always think like gamer's, comparing this to that, state they can do better than this or better than them or learn from them. Drivers will always think as evolutionaries, how can this be improved to make my learning curve short as possible or to better my skills is the shortest amount of time. I myself has always been a driver. I started driving karts at the age of 4, and drove my first full size car at the age of 9. Instill I love games but I'm always a driver first.

Yeah I remember they made the same promise to fix the sounds in GT5.How did that work out? I just love how people use the lame reasoning of go make your own game. If I wanted to be game game developer I would of picked a different degree. I choose to make better money than that and pay someone else to make games.
