I thought that was what I said??. If you want to boot guys who don't respect the rules of the room or general etiquette for example driving backwards, not racing, in the wrong cars etc. that's fine. But to boot guys that have raced in the room and followed the rules just to make room for your friends is bad etiquette and poor sportsmanship on your part.

This isn't special to the GTP forum. It's a scourge of all internet communities.

It doesn't matter if you're dealing with motorsports fans, gamers, geeks, or women with an interest in knitting... if you have a forum, it doesn't matter if it's about psychology, physics, or mothers & babies, there's going to be a certain segment (sometimes large), that are big ol' wet blankets... and some whose manners do not recommend their opinions.

It's an unfortunate side-effect of the anonymous nature of strangers interacting. There's no real life consequences for being off-putting or exhibiting unattractive social behaviours on an internet forum.

However, there are distinct online advantages to being amiable. So I think iit's worth it to be polite & friendly on forums. You will get what you give here, at least.

as an englishman who races nascar you would not beleive the ammount of times i have been kicked from AMERICAN ROOMS for the reason and i quote "your not north american you will make the room lag"

I think people get confused about what causes lag & latency in online races. While I'm sure it's true that being on the same geographic continent may help in certain ways... there's other factors involved that are so much more important.

I agree with this. If you often have a problem not having room for your friends, you're better off hosting in your private lounge.
Otherwise it looks like you're just holding yourself a popularity contest like a junior high school girl. LOL ;)

I wouldn't kick anyone just because they're A-Spec 21 or lower, 21 is an acceptable figure. They may just not see the point of aimlessly grinding just to raise their level.

Exactly, some people only get the game for the online, and it'll take them a lot longer to reach a higher level.
Also, sometimes people choose to have a secondary account... and maybe they haven't taken the time to up their aspec level on it yet.

Look through the "social groups" on this forum, for online racing leagues.
And look through the online section's postings for race series.

You're bound to find something of interest.

My main problem has been that my getting the game, and then coming to the forum... lots of the race series I would be interested in are halfway through or nearly over, or just pretty full up. So I'll have to wait for new series to get started in those categories. So it's a bit about timing.

I don't doubt that! I'm sure many people remember usernames of people they encounter.. Especially if the user name is memorable.... Like say reminds one of a certain sugary treat. LOL ;)

Im not out to make enemies. Some nights? I have to kick 50 plus people, i dont like too. My buds leave to do an oil change, 3 leave, 3 come in. I even tell them, then they jump in their car, right out on the track! Ok?! I dont know this guy, but all of a sudden, he's breaking the first rule. Im just sayin, when you host as much as i have? Meet alot of dinks.

If your racing Nascar? Look me up, when racing online resumes, tell me tho? I meet alot of people, my room, sometimes fill up in minutes.

Im just starting to find my way around. Im gona be asking alot of Nascar questions, GT5, and Sprint Cup. Racing fan.

They should state that in their driver profile, I read everybody I dont know. Like ii said, I do alot of hosting, met alot of racers.

Will do. I just wanna race online against competition. I don't care what the cars are.
 
Im gon change the topic. Anyone fully understand the SPRINT Cup point system? Im refering to the new point system, this year. We can talk nascar here, or i could start another thread called GT5 online, and real life sprint cup. But yeah! Point system? You like or NO? I will reply.

Didn't read the whole thread so I might repeat something already said. In my opinion, if you create an open lobby, you should respect all racers in your room and not boot anyone out to make room for your friends. If you want to boot crap drivers, guys going backwards, guys not racing or in the wrong cars etc. that's fine. But to boot someone so your friend can get in is bad etiquette IMHO and poor sportsmanship.

If you want a lobby for your friends only, create a private lounge as some have suggested.

Nope, your original point didn't mention 'general etiquette', you mentioned specific points, not 'respect generally':

I've experienced alot of bad lobby ettiquette in random lobbies, even from guys with GTP ID's, only a couple of times though. Everything from swearing, insults, verbal abuse, threats, an Italian guy literally 'screaming' constantly, music being played (very) loudly, Portugese Christiano Ronaldo fan who just shouted his name down the mic - constantly, mic 'hogs', background noise (especially babies crying at full volume and people shouting at it each other - but doing it with their mic still on so everyone can hear it) and people swapping mics with their friends who just say exactly the same thing and think this is really funny - the list goes on and on.....

Yes, these guys can be muted, but not for the guys without mics - anyone acts like this, then they're given a warning but 99% of the time they simply don't listen, so they get hoofed.

Why on earth these people think that everyone in the lobby wants to hear this, or will put up with this, is beyond me. I've experienced the above so many times, as soon as someone meets the stereotype - they're hooofed, with pleasure.

Not before the worst offenders (screaming Italian guy and music man) got reported by everyone in the room :D 👍

GOOOAAALLLLLL!!! I know a guy, who watches the races, commentates, and cracks jokes. He is very funny! We get a good laugh out of him. He races every couple races, or so.

Sometimes that can be funny, on liimited occasions, but regularly, that would do my nut in, he'd get hooofed too...or at least told to shut the **** up - politely of course :D

If you're really having a problem racing with all your many friends from the sorority.. LOL... ;) Then you need to pre-plan with groups of friends in your private lobby.

The answer is simple. Get organized. Have a sign up or have something posted on your board.. for specific times, for specific types of races or whatnot in your private lounge. If people don't arrive at the specified time, they can't participate until someone says they're leaving for the duration. Done.

That is, if you're really looking for a solution to this.

Dude I think you misunderstood the intent of my post. The "etc." in my response is there so I don't have to make a list of the 1000 bad online behaviours I see for which I would kick someone from a room I was hosting which I believe are perfectly reasonable.

In your original post you said, " do i continue to make spots for the guys on my friends list? if my buddy cant get into the room, do i kick someone i dnt know? i tend too boot the crappiest driver in the room, to make space for my buds, my bud list is almost full, and thats alot of kicking! ...which sounds to me, and I could be wrong, but sounds like you kick people for no reason other than to make room for your friends which I consider rude and bad online etiquette on your part, even if it's booting the crappiest driver. That's probably why you get so much hatemail because you punt people for no reason.
 
I don't have this problem yet but if your list is full of gt5 people that you race with regularly and you have full rooms, just host the races in your lounge. Save yourself the hassle of wondering if it's bad etiquette to kick people for whatever reason....(not addressed to anyone in particular).

Hey homes, my tan is better than its ever been. My online racing kept me, sober and outa trouble, hehehe! Its summertime, and may not be doin alot of racing, when the network gets up.
