Car acts funny downshifting to first?

You can use throttle control with the X button if you wanted. Ask me how I know. :sly: Nowhere near as good as your foot and a pedal but better than mashing it. Really you just have to set your mind to do it and practice it and it will make your driving that much better. If you want to be the best or even just better you need to make the effort. My favorite motivational quote... "It is not can or can't but will or won't."



Last I looked some months back they were still north of 200USD. Might be able to pick one up used cheaper from Ebay or such. Found myself a like new DFGT a couple years ago for 50 bucks shipped. :D

i actually switched my controls so my R2 and L2 are gas and break. Its not that i don't ignore throttle control its just on turn exits in particular. Like ill try to feather gas through a turn but when i exit and have to acceleratate i won't gradually got more and more on the gas ill just MASH MASH MASH. MUST MASH.

Not the best strategy but i don't feel like slowly getting on gas every turn i do.


$50 i can do for a wheel. ill even go like $70 but nothing more than $80 prob. i knows its not much but eh

hmm just looked on ebay... G25 + driving stand for $79... ill have to think about that XD

I see CSL, that i've had happen in a high power high revving car. I'm usually 500 to 600 PP. but in the LMP cars that are light and powerful i've experienced the sliding, but never locked. Could this be because of downshifting to soon? I mean if the gear can only go 40 when you downshift shouldn't you be downshifting there and not around 50mph knowing its early, and knowing you'll slip? Correc?.

Well it never "locks" the wheels, it causes them to spin more slowly than the car is moving, which under brake power is referred to as "partial lock".
But essentially it's a balance between the actual brakes and the engine, and yes when/what speed you downshift has a huge play in the equation.
That's why I asked if anyone was driving AT, because they generally downshift slower.
Think of high RPM's as heavy brake hand brake pressure as Greycap said, and low RPM's as insignificant handbrake pressure.(in RWD)
In FWD it makes you go straight ahead, and 4WD can do both or either.

As in with the same gearing length, or as in quicker gearing?
I'm pretty sure it's both, but the quicker gearing is a bigger difference.

Of course the lower final drive setups get more wheelspin as well, which makes me assume they do this as well.
