First time being at church on a Sunday morning (day I got baptized)
This time at work around 11am-12pm when I had my first 7am-3pm shift...

I have full coverage (comprehensive and liability) 100 deductable
They broke into the rear passenger side window (appears that they tried to pry the doors open with a crowbar, but failed so they busted a window out)
Where I parked, my front end was 5 feet away from the main street where at least 50 cars drive on it a minute...only was I told when a co-worker told me

CD player was stolen (out-of production player) with a cd in it, they left the wires intact...I just now have a big hole in the center of my car where I can see wires and plastic

Busted window currently covered with a trash bag (lovely looking, isn't it)

I don't feel like taking any pics now...but someone share something worthwhile reading, please. :(

Oddly enough though, 2-3 EMPLOYEE cars were also broken into within the past 3 weeks (Kroger is where I work)

Sounds like you need a new job. that Kroger sounds like a popular place to hit.

you could also try getting the cops to drive by more often.

I'm really sorry for that, man. Last weeks night from thursday to friday, somebody tried to open my car as well. I guess he / she(???) / them were going for the radio as well, which is a fairly good Pioneer one. They tried to break the lock on the drivers side with a screwdriver (I suppose), but they failed. Fortunately, the lock still works. I need a tad more force to get the key in now, and the little plate that keeps the dirt out is gone as well, but that's it. I guess it was just a random try by some kiddies, professionals would open a car like that in seconds.
Still, I was so angry when I noticed it the next morning. The worst thing is the helplessness you feel, cause you can't do anything against this. I have to put my car on the same street every night, and there's nothing I can do. I can't stay open all night, cause I don't know when they'll come back, I even don't know if.

And there's another almost unbelievable story that happened at my sisters workplace. Somebody kept stealing fancy electronics like laptops or video beamers over a period of time. (S)he always seemed to know what to find where. So, a clever employee set up a trap by placing a laptop in a specific room. He set up a webcam and a computer and filmed that very room the whole night to catch the pilferer. That's pretty clever already, but wait for this. The burglar actually stole the laptop at that night. BUT ... he also noticed the webcam and the computer and did not only stop the recording, but also erased the harddrive of that computer. Obviously (s)he knew what (s)he was doing, as the data wasn't even recoverable by police specialists the employee gave it to a few days later. Can you believe that?

Okay, I guess I've chatted enough for now. Sometimes I'm just amazed at how cruel people can be to other people, and how little respect they show for the property of others. If I want something and I can't afford, I wait until I can. Stealing it from somebody can't be an option.

One last thing though which goes to Delirious ... if that has happened a few times in the last weeks, why not organize a kind of nightwatch? Maybe you can catch that guy / girl?

P.S.: I've intentionally noted both genders all the time, cause we don't know which one did these things. Actually I'd say that guys did this, but since emancipation has been going on in the last decades, it could as well be a girl by now. :D

I know how you feel, my truck was broken into around last Christmas and they took my sound system, some presents for family members, and destroyed my interior. I feel for ya. The best thing I can suggest you do is get an alarm ASAP, they really do work because if you are trying to steal stuff that last thing you want to do is draw attention to where you are.

I live in one of the rougher neighbor hoods in south east london. I can sleep easy at night knowing that non of my property will become a target to thieves. Criminals usually dont **** where they sleep :)

My parents called the insurance company...they won't do anything til at the soonest...monday at 4pm

I guess I should feel fortunate though that i am under my parents full-coverage insurance and that i can still drive one of my parents cars to work/school/church

I've been lucky enough to never have my car broken into, but my mum's Clio had it's front passenger door bent back a efw months back, they stole nothing, because there was nothing in there to steal, but that didn't stop them having a look. It's a pity there's so many arseholes on this planet.

Depending on your insurence company you probably won't get much, I got 500 bucks for a thousand some odd dollar system, presents, and other stuff. I did get it fixed but I was mad about the system.

alarm.
park where a camera can see your car.
close and lock doors.

and most importantly, dont invite the crime by leaving valuables in plain sight. yeah, you are the victim, blah, blah, blah, but if you had a crappy 1970s nova with the 8 track still in it you wouldnt have got your car broken into would you? there are steps you can take that can prevent you from being a victim.

I don't want to open a new thread, so I'm hijacking this one, cause it kind of fits. Long story short - this is how I found my bimmer in front of my door this morning:

Seven weeks ago, I had just bought new rims and tires:

Man, that sucks dude, sorry to hear about that. I've been lucky, only once have punks tried breaking into my car for stereo equip. but I caught them with a slim jim in my door jam, and chased them for like 4 blocks...( I am not in the greatest shape for sprinting either...since then, ( about 4 years ago) no problems...

Proline PI 8x18" and Goodyear Eagle F1

I paid 1231 Euros for all four rims and tires, which is not too steep, but still some money.

What kind of pathetic jack*** does that kinda thing though? Pretty petty creatures if you ask me.
My dad had the Subaru lettering, front badge and STI badge stolen from his2004 Impreza a few months ago. Hate kids who steal badges to look cool or to sell, just a little problem that ruins your day.
My Clio 172 got keyscratched the whole length, then up and down. Going to the police due to the fact I was parked in easy recording distance of a CCTV camera. Idiots.

Ouch. Did you have locking wheel nuts?

Look on the bright side though. You've gained 8 bricks you never had before...

Ouch. Did you have locking wheel nuts?
No, but I didn't have them intentionally. If they are pros, they won't be stopped by the wheel locks anyway. If they are novices, they probably won't get past the lock, but they'll surely damage the rims and maybe even the car during the process. My insurance wouldn't cover that kind of damage though, so I'd have to pay it by myself. If the rims were stolen like now, the insurance will cover it. I know it's paradox, but I can't help it.

Exactly! Well, I'm not too bad because of this, I mean it's kinda like in the movies. Could be worse...

Do you still have the wheels you took off 7 weeks ago, or are you stuck with no wheels?

Wow, that SUCKS! :(

And dad makes fuss over a little scratch done on his car. He'd be in fumes over this! Seems you're keeping your cool though. 👍

Whoa wait a minute! Am I confused or are all the studs gone that hold the wheels on? I dont have a BMW so mabey they bolt up different but that is very strange to see all the studs gone that hold the wheels on. :dunce:
Sorry to hear about the loss. That is a lot of money.

Oh I feel for you, this happened to a friend of mine a couple of motnhs back, bought new wheels and then a few weeks later they were gone. Even with the insurance it's still al ot of bother you shouldn't have to go through.

Lazy ass gits. Didn't even try to ballance it on two sets of bricks. High school dropouts. :grumpy:

Well atleast they didn't try to completly trash the car 👍 Hope nothing else happens.

Wow...makes my car break-in seem like nothing

I'm sorry dude :(

Think anyone would want to steal the wheels off a new Ford Fusion? (If I ever bought a new car, I'd get that)

That just looks too close to the other thread where they had the Aston DB9 on cement blocks with its wheels stolen. Sorry to hear about that, Interceptor and Delirious XVII.

Knowing nothing about how wheels work, is there anyway to prevent this happening in the future? Is there a wheel/tyre that people can't get off in a hurry?

Some makers use a specialized bolt design that can only be taken off if you have the cap that comes along when you purchase the car. I know my family's Olds has that.

Yes - lock the car away.

There are certain systems, but I hightly doubt that pros will be stopped by that. They might need another minute or two, but that's it.
And I have no doubt that this was made by a professional group. I slept 20 metres away from my car, directly under an open window that night, and I didn't hear a damn thing. Additionally, my street is frequented by a vehicle every few minutes even during the night, cause people swerve other roads with traffic lights. So, they must have been pretty quick, like unter ten minutes.
