You are ok in my books...
Truth told I am 62 and with dexterity issues and I do the best i can.
You only say I'm okay because you haven't seen me crash out every other race in our weekly lobbies

It's admirable that you're keeping active despite your age and dexterity issues. You've got spirit, and I think you should be proud of that :)

Hello all, I made a run of Fuji with my GT-R and finding out the bloody track is a bit slippy early in mornings...I tried my best and posted my replay with COTW in keyword.
Also my best lap was a restart after making a mess of constant slides way off the track which do not register with track limit penalties and I will not post sloppy laps...
Here is my live video of that best lap, I always use the apex markers and braking zone assists as I never remember where to apply my brakes at same place consistently...

And a screen of my best time...

Thank you and I will try to be at weekly lobby...tonight at 10 CST

Maybe I should have been the first to put out a time since I chose it anyway. But better a day late than never?
Overall the car has the tendency to slip a bit, or understeer on exits when you least wanted it to. It doesn't help that Fuji is the kind of track to torture your tires or smoothness in a lap. But we all have that little masochist in us.

The best I can do for now is a 1:49.686.

Hello there

The GT-R '24 is car that represents a love and hate situation for me. When it first came out I simply hated it while driving it at the online time trial challenge at Nurburgring Short GP layout. The car was a mess. A huge one. No breaks, too much side leaning, too much slide action and to add salt in the wound I just can't stand the Nurb GP layout. The 1st sector is pain.

However, as the time passed by and I kept trying to reach the 3% golden zone, I started to understand the car. Driving this car requires some patience, you gotta be aware that overdriving brings you no reward but only frustation. That lap time challenge taught me the values of the slow in fast out concept and got me a feeling of when a car grips and then you are good to hit the gas and go.

After that I made some small tweaks in the suspension and since then I love it. This particular car I used in this COTW challenge is the very same I bought when the GT-R '24 came to the game and this is a rare thing for me, keeping the same copy for so long. For the COTW challenge I set the suspension back to default and did the same with the GT auto aero parts though.

The challenge itself... I hate Fuji's 3rd sector. Opening up those turns is a forever mystery for me. I know I lost my 49's there. But I happly settle for the 1:50:573 because the 30 minutes I spent driving the Godzilla there were quality time.

The lap:

I tried something different and crammed all three replays into one upload. (Chase, onboard and replay) Replay shared in my GT7 page (#cotw #gtplanet)

Cheers!

Really close times this week, and for the second week in a row, I feel inclined to say that jrbabbitt is closing the gap to us real quick...

@RX8 Racer has a free car choice that he can use whenever, but this week, it's his natural turn to select the car we'll be thrashing about the Nürburgring this week.
And his choice? Get ready for some pain... it's the Alfa Romeo 8C

Nothing in the UCD or LCD interested me until I saw the 8C and went 🤔

Alfa's first RWD coupé in 17 years not only dropped jaws for its stunning looks, but also its Ferrari–built NA V8 and a transaxle gearbox layout. Yet, for all of its splendor, it's a strangely forgettable car in GT7.

Are we overlooking something major, or does the 8C simply not live up to its hype? Join us in our Single–Player Challenge or Weekly Lobbies and let's find out!

Join Our Weekly Lobbies!

Our weekly lobbies are ongoing as usual, and anyone (not a dick) is welcome to join us in racing 8Cs under BoP conditions!

Click on the hyperlinks to convert the times to your time zone, and feel free to add the hosts as friends on PSN to make searching for the lobbies easier!

The Americas Lobby

The Asia/Oceania also kinda European Lobby

BoP/Settings Disabled: On (Cars will temporarily be reverted to stock settings, WIDE BODIED AND/OR ENGINE SWAPPED CARS WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE!)

RX8 Racer

(The SPC is) a time trial that riffs off a specific race in NFS HP 2010 - a Maserati GranCabrio vs 8C Spider duel while being chased by Shelby GT500 cops.

Set up the following Custom Race using Regular AI:

  • Course: Grand Valley Highway 1 (Forward)
  • Race Type & Length: 3 Laps
  • Start Type & Interval: Rolling, Default (20m)
  • Tyre Wear & Fuel Con: 1x
  • Boost: Weak
  • Mech Damage: Off
  • Grip Reduction: Real
  • Rival Difficulty: Hard

Starting Grid (All cars stock):
  • 1–5: Ford Shelby GT350R '16
  • 6: Maserati GranTurismo S '08
  • 7: Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione '08 (You!)
  • 8–12: Ford Shelby GT350R '16

Finishing in first place isn't the goal: completing the three laps through traffic in the fastest total time is!

Remember to save a replay of your run!

Of course, we always welcome opinions, tunes, liveries, photos, videos, or stories about the car here on the the thread!

XSquareStickIt:
how much money do you want to bet that SPD will show up in either lobby with a 4C Gr.4 or Gr.3
RX8 Racer:
Watch him rock up in the other 8C 🤣

I guess I have a thing for odd cars. Some time ago I used to repeat the Euro Clubman Cup 600 at Nordschleife over and over, while testing different cars.

The 8C Alfa was one of my favorite cars for this event. The CCCCCCCC may look weird for some, but it is a beautiful piece of a vehicle in my opinion, it sounds great and drives good too. Kind of a heavy boat but predictable and fun.

The 8C is nice, but the Disco Volante is the upgrade. Shame we don't have a model of it in a GT game yet.
You know, seeing how the SPC is based on a NFSHP event, and knowing that I still got it installed...
Why not I do both challenges in both games?

It's past midnight, so there won't be any attempts yet. But here's a edited picture I had since August 2023?

hzx copy.001.webp

On another note of last week's challenge, I knew choosing Fuji would be a pain for some. But I had a recent memory from August involving that track. Something where I destroyed my tires in the first round of a tournament, and nearly didn't make it instead of finishing 7th overall! Maybe I'll open it a bit more if a certain German car were to be a COTW anytime soon. But I'm not making any bribes to force anyone!

What was the question?
As per the announcement post, these guys are talking behind our (actually mine, but let's say it includes Past and Future SPDs) backs that I may end up driving another Alfa Romeo in the weekly lobbies.

The question was: which one? The racing 4Cs and the coachbuilt 8C came out.

I say that's rubbish, and since I'm the only person who can get this right, the only answer I can think of that better fits that criteria for my purposes is the 155. And in this performance range, I got a nagging feeling besides Alfa Romeos..

Cue the music!
