Hi guys, I bought a Nissan Skyline R33 to tune, but, in the dealership, it says it has 280 bhp, but when I go to the garage, it says it has 315 bhp, and I haven't even changed the oil.

If it's got mileage then it may have been broken in, therefore increasing the HP.

That's because the dealership displays the advertised power. In the 90s Japanese manufacturers agreed to limit their sport cars' power to 275 HP. (Obviously nobody cared about this and they just advertised the cars as having around 275 HP.)

Learn something new everyday. I knew they did that with some of the later NSXs but not other cars. 👍

It's actually 276hp.

It has no mileage, I bought it in the NCD.

Always learning, thanks!

But the '02 Skyline has the same thing, they did it in '02 too?

There's a number of cars that this affects, both road cars and race cars.

The power setting you see in "settings" is the one to use as this is what the game uses to check if you are racing in power regulated races.

One car that magically gains a huge BHP boost is one of the Mazda RX8 concepts, can't remember exactly, but I think there's a 40bhp difference between what is quoted in the UCD and what is shown in settings once you've bought the car and can access that (yet doing 0 changes to the car, no oil, rebuilds, tuning parts etc - just buythe car, check power in the two different places).

I'm not sure, but I think cars like the R390 GT1 and Toyota GT1 racecars have large differences between the UCD and "settings" too, but I'm not sure, I bought these months ago and can't remember what they came with.

A bit annoying if you are doing power / weight regulated racing (instead of PP racing), as this can sometimes mean a car you think is legit, turns out not to be. Nowadays, with the power limiter it's not such a problem though, before this was introduced it was a right pain in the a55 sometimes.

Yes, they basically stopped caring about the 275 HP rule when differences between that number and the reality became too obvious. i.e.: The R35.

This is why I created the GT5 car database, stuck to the top of this very forum. It has the real garage power values for almost all cars (10 to go) as they arrive at 0.0 miles.
