Short version: I used a "Car Restoration Coupon" on a fully modded car, and unexpectedly, it didn't change a thing. Why?

Full version: I didn't notice it right away, but yesterday I saw that since 2.02 we receive 5 "Car Restoration Coupons". If you can't find yours, look in "Items", "Special Coupon". These are different than the "Overhaul Engine" and "Restore Body Rigidity" that are available for use while in GT Auto.

The description is "Bring your current car back to its original state. All tuning parts, wheels, paint etc will be removed."

Why might you want to do that? I try to collect two copies of many of the cars. I leave one of them in original condition, and the other one gets fully modified. Maximum HP, minimum weight, often repainted and with new wheels. If one car has 0.0 miles, I'll leave that one unmodified for my "museum", and modify the one with some mileage on it. Well, I messed up, and modified my 0.0 mile Camaro IROC-Z concept '88. I tried the restoration coupon on it, and it still has all the mods that I installed. Paint, wheels, Stage 3 engine, weight reduction, everything as it was before I used the coupon.

Does anyone know what gives? Am I misinterpreting the description, or is it glitched? I now have only 4 coupons left, so I don't really want to experiment.

I'd love to hear your experience with these coupons. Thanks.

Resets mileage/engine and chasis nothing else as stared on the news section.
Keeps switches and race wins.

To be clear, I'm not referring to the Special Coupons "GT Auto: Overhaul Engine" or "GT Auto:Restore Body Rigidity".

Thought it just reset the stats not the mods?

Keeps switches and race wins, again as stated.

If so, then the in-game description is incorrect: "Bring your current car back to its original state. All tuning parts, wheels, paint etc will be removed."

Mark, I looked in the News section and couldn't find anything regarding this coupon. Do you have a link? There's no sense in having this tread if it's already been discussed.

Here you go.

That covers 90% and the rest I can assure you as ive used all mine up now. LOL
Funny looking at cars in my garage with 70 switches, zero miles and 45 wins LOL

Strange ive just done a search for my other posts on this matter (several) and cannot find them.

Yeah, mods stay... But when I used mine on a ZZll it reset the mileage to 0.0 and the engine needed to be broken in again, to get to optimal hp again.

I'm afraid if you have done an engine upgrade or lightweight reduction, that It would be irreversible damage done to said car and a car restoration ticket is not what you need... You will need a whole new car to have it(1) stock again.

Thanks for the link.

"...five New Car Refresh cards will be provided to customers purchasing any DLC packs released in October 2011. The New Car Refresh can be used from the Special Coupons option in the items list, and will return your car to its brand new condition (before breaking-in the car’s engine). Equipped parts and current paint on the car will not be affected by this card."

That is a much better description of what happens. It seems the in-game description is false, then.

Yes it is misleading a lot of people, and because people (not aimed at you) fully believe what they have read and will not even entertain folk that have done and dusted it.

I fully expected cars to go 0.0.0 but retain all previous purchases, First car I was itching to do was my well worn X2010 prototype, Still its engine is now fully recovered but I dearly wanted it back to 0.0.0 as they are a rare beast now.

Car restoration tickets are to restore performanse and damages. And indead it does its job. What the purpose to reset switches and wins? They are not affecting performance of car ;)

It's confusing. Before you click, it says it will remove everything, then after you click it says it will not remove anything. Does PD need more proof readers?

It brings the car back before breaking-in the car’s engine - even though that might be true - I used the ticket on a new car, and compared it with a new car from a ticket/NCD and with a car from the OCD. It turned out the car on which I used the restore ticket had a lot more power.

I no this is a old thread, But you would think PD would of fix the this issue by now. Since it seems like only half of you know what your talking about. If you go to items list and scroll all the way down to the bottom and click on special coupons, it has a car restoration coupon and it says bring the current car back to original state. All parts, paint, wheels, etc. will be removed. Then when you click yes and it says are you sure, click yes again. then it says, All parts, paint, wheels, etc. will be kept.
" What gives" I'd like to get a hold of PD and see what they have to say, but all I get is playstation website when I click on contact us. This special car restoration coupon is a waste.

It is fixed in a way or the OP just read the Car restoration ticket explanation wrong because when I go on it the explanation says all equipped tuning parts will not be lost. & you dont lose them so. . . .

I think your playing another game lol

And this predates that thread by 6 months, 8 days, and nearly 12 hours; check the dates on the original posts before shooting off your snide remarks.
I'll "shoot whatever snide remarks" I please, I'm not violating the AUP in saying what I said, I seem the poll, I was not being snide, that is your own opinion, now i am.. I have done no more than give reason for my answer in the poll. Even as the person who "brought this thread back to life" stated, "why hasn't this been fixed" well, we all know about it, and it bren discussed in more than one thread (as i have shown) If you want it fixed put it in the wish list thread or email Polyphony Digital.. Bringing a dead thread back to life isn't doing anything.. I've said what I need to say, if you feel the need to reply you are more than welcome, but it will now be a one-way conversation. Have a great day!
