I was thinking of sharing some of my cars with friends so they can do the early races and don't have to waste money getting there own but i want to know if people can mess with the settings of the cars when the use them and if they can will it revert back to what i had when they are finished?

I don't mind lending my cars out but i don't want people messing with then lol

Nope, your cars are safe and I don't believe the miles they put on count either.

Can this be confirmed? I was just wondering about the mileage and damage wear to engine and chassis myself.

Read the manual section about sharing cars. It says that all settings and changes you make to the car will be lost when you choose another car. You can't use them online and the original owner can use them as they would usually, even if the car is being borrowed.

Who cares? I don't understand why the mileage is such a big deal. Go and fix the engine in the GT Auto and it's as good as new. I don't believe that PD has given it much thought to the mileage of a car. It's JUST a number! Correct me if I'm wrong.

I have tried this with my second profile, i put one of my cars up on share with friends with 14.9 miles on, went over to my over profile and borrow that car, went to setup change acouple of things then did afew races, went back to my main profile to check the car the mileage was still 14.9 miles on the clock, the things i change in setup did't change the setup in this profile, and some for damage, so when someone borrows your car it does nothing to it on your game, so car will be in the same condition as it was before a friend borrows it

If it did indeed cause wear on the vehicle, then it would cost you credits to repair it. I for one don't have a lot of extra credits laying around. With my car buying addiction, bills to pay and not to mention the price of diapers lately.

I can't use mine while they are available on line

As for the mileage some cars cost a lot of money to rebuild the engine and chassis

Nice work Carlito! Thanks for the testing.👍

You can't use them while they are in the "Share with friends" garage.

Well then save up :) But as I can see the problem is solved.

:idea:You can borrow my cars anytime you want, that way I'll save YOU some money.

Thats what i meant

That is what i have done, the cars are there so people don't have to buy there own. Now i just need a friend with tunned mini as i refuse to spend any money on one lol

Tunned Mini? No problem :) You need it for a event or...??

I have like 50 GT5 friends. But I'd like to share only with my brother. Can that be done?

I don't think it can be done but i have not looked yet, will check when i get in.

Add me and then I'll share it with you when I get to my PS3. I'll be happy to help...

Will add you when i finish work in a few hours, i think gran-turismo.com is down at the moment anyway.

I think this new borrowing feature will be real useful... so props to PD for adding it for us, especially with the F1 challenge still going!!

Also, can more than one friend borrow the same car at the same time.... has anyone tested?

I didn't even know you could use a car in share mode. That is what I thought originally but a friend of mine tried it and said he couldnt actually use the car, just see it, so I assumed I was wrong. So your saying if I put a car in share mode people on my friends list CAN drive it?

Car sharing is awesome for both seasonal events and grinding. Instead of gifting a car (which you can only do once a day) so they can do the F1 events, for example, just 'share' it, and everyone in your PSN list has access to it. It frees up your daily trading slot to do some real trading.

If you've got multiple GT5 games going, you just share the seasonal event cars instead of having to buy them twice. Same goes for grinding, use a 'shared' X2010 for B-spec endurance races and you won't have to worry about engine/chassis wear.

Thats a good point, if you only use each others cars to race you will never need to do an oil change or rebuild again, the car will always be 100%

Yes, all your friends can share at the same time. Only you, won't be able to use it.

Yeah I know. It didn't work before the update either, even though other people could only look at the cars, I couldn't get mine to work.

This was not the case for me, First when said car is online/share with friends I cant use it, second when I set it to online it had 2 wins but when I took it back off line and opened it up in my garage under view it now stated it had 3 plus the mileage had gone up from 56 miles too 72 not only on my view screen but also on the dash mile gauge , so something is not right somewhere?

One other thing I noticed was that, if I share a X2010 from my secondary account and select that to do races on my primary... if I go back to my secondary account and take that car "offline", I can still race with it on my primary... as long as I don't change to a different car.

So if you use a "Shared" car to grind (as people have suggested), do those miles count towards earning the 1000 Ticket? Or will you lose out on a 1000 Ticket because all those miles you grinded with a shared car don't count?

I still cant figure out how to use these shared cars. My friend has set some to online/share with friends but I cant find them. Help?
