This thread is for details on the best mods to make a car thats not RMable and isnt a racecar in the game, a race car.

I was thinking something like this
Aston Martin DB9 -------> Aston Martin DBR9
RUF RGT ----------> Porsche race car.
Ferrari 458 Italia -----------> Ferrari challenge car
etc etc etc...

so! give some suggestions!

I don't actually get your point. You mean it liked my Volkswagen Samba van that i tuned completely and call Samba Turbo or Turbo Samba?

Do them ALL...!

And it STILL won't be a DBR, or BMW racecar.

And, no matter what's under the hood, it won't LOOK like a racecar until we get some way to livery up the cars. I mean, you spend .5M cr. on turning a factory spec street car into a snarlin' beast (OK, the game's sound is so bad, it NEVER snarls!) that destroys the base model, but God forbid you place ONE sticker on it or a decal for the brake manufacturer...

I hear some say you can't do that because the manufacturer doesn't want their car represented in this fashion. RUBBISH! Go to a track race day. Where are all the manufacturer reps running about saying 'No, you can't put a decal on this F430!'?

GT5 has the potential to be a great racing game. But while it LOOKS like a bunch of Sunday nerds driving their POS daily drivers around, no matter WHAT is lurking under the hood, except for the TINY few cars that can be RM'd (and they look like dog, anyway), other games are going to blow it away, at least visually (and sound, too!).

GT5... The Ultimate Boring Driving Simulator (to look at).:yuck:

My point is that i feel the best way to get more racecars into the game is to make then ourselves sure, you cant get a livery but, all in all what does that matter?

You can not turn a street car into a full fledged race car in game other than using the RM as you do not have the options to get the type of aero package that would be needed. You can make a street car fast but it is not the same.

Take the 69 Camaro for example get one and do everything to it other than RM then take another and do the RM then every else you can and compare the cars. You will see that other than the way they look most things are the same until you look at the downforce. The street car has very little where the RM has quite a lot. No contest on the track the RM is the clear winner.

How can you make something a race car when you can't even put a roll cage in, or remove the passenger seat?

HBR- I know that, this is to bypass that, seriously, i just want to create a set of mods that allow X car to be similar to it's corresponding race car. I know it wont be the same! I was just trying.

jj72- it dosnt matter since there is no damage yet. Plus weight removal takes car of the seat thing.

The max weight reductions are supposed to take everything extra out of the car. This might not be represented in the interior view though (i haven't checked myself yet).

However, you don't need permission from the manufacturer to put a decal on a car you have bought and modded, even if you DON'T put in a roll cage and take out the passenger seats. Truth is, cars on a race track without decals and some kind of livery are the EXCEPTION, not the rule.

Sadly, other driving games (that's all this is, no matter HOW much some here want to turn it into some kind of religion or 'simulation' - it sure doesn't 'simulate' my ability to stick a decal on my car, that's for sure!) get the whole 'dress it up for the track' part MUCH better than GT5. Some of the liveries users have created for Shift are works of art. Likewise Forza. You may quite reasonably argue that neither of those are more accurate driving simulators. But they are WAY more visually accurate.

I attend ALMS races as much as I can. ONLY car on the track not covered in decals is the pace car! I want GT5 to LOOK and SOUND as good as it drives. Is that asking too much?
