if i buy say a dodge viper, and its resale value is 19,000 when i spend $100,000 souping it up the value doesnt change right? thats stupid lol who agrees?

Actually, it's more accurate than you know. Ebay aside, modifications are usually don't add much to the price of a car, or in some cases LOWER the value.

Racecars that cost tens of thousands to build can frequently be bought for less than half price, including spares and extra wheels/tires etc. etc. etc. Sad but true.

But for a mere $30 investment in a second memory card, you can take advantage of that...

Thats true. Someone could go out and buy a brand new Escalade and within two to three years the price would drop. But it is the way the country is. So hey unless you are planning on being a dictator of the US get used to it.

They should let us sale the parts, but I do agree it is not right.

Well, from a game function point of view, the value drop means you have to think seriously about what car you're going to purchase - particularly early on, because if you hand over a lot of money for a dog, you're going to have to make it work because you're stuck with it for a while.

Also, the point on mods was well made by neon_duke. People don't generally like to buy modded used cars (and it's usually the first or second tip in any used-car buying guide - don't buy modded cars!).

In real life mods do add to the re sale of your car. Like I was offered 17g's for my little car.

Any way I agree that you should be able to sell your car for more if its modded.

Actually, it depends quite a bit on what the car was used for by the previous owner. If it was modded for the purpose of being a show car and almost never driven, then it would probably have a higher value (though I'd think the car itself would be the main factor there, not what was bolted onto it.)

On the other hand, if the car was modded for use on the track, then its value would most likely drop quite a bit as the demands of racing put excessive stress on the parts that were only designed for normal road conditions. In a sense, they'd fall into the same category as retired police vehicles or high-milage rental cars, as they were used for means that put them through a lot of premature wear and tear.

The value is 1/4 of its retail value. SO if u bought a $1,000,000 it would be $250,000 value.
