Well I assume the listed car weight is min curb weight without driver and fuel.
Do you think they include driver, and fuel load in the physic calulations.

I'm trying to get a setup as close as posible to my track car, its been corner weighted so I can set up the weight balance to match. just working out if I should add weight for driver or if the game add weight for the driver.

I'm using a fully custom gearbox so I can set the correct ratio's for gearbox and final drive.
I had to add tuning and then use power reduction so I could get the revs' redline to match, but still have the right HP.
 
I don't think they do add the weight of the driver.

But people have reported their lap times and top speed improving after a half a tank of fuel has been used in endurance races in GT5, so I would think that would have carried over.
 
Listed car weight in GT6 is whatever manufacturers tell them it is. This means that manufacturers that like to play it fast and loose with such statistics (Lamborghini) and PD doesn't do any oversight regarding the accuracy, so it's probably safe to say that they don't take the extra step of including driver weight in the calculations
 
Road cars don't include driver weight, but race cars do.
In GT the race cars are too heavy because they have added the driver weight into the stats. Or they maybe it's just right and the road cars too light because they don't add on a generic 70kgs to include you driving it. The physics should be adding on extra weight rather than just the kerb weight reported in game. Either way it could be wrong unless PD say they are calculating the weight in real time differently from race cars and road cars.
The other factor as mentioned is the unrealistic amount of fuel your given in a road car. My car has 32litre tank, but the same car is filled with 100litres in GT. It's like having an extra passenger in the car in weight.
 
Panoz is still 250kg overweight. 1150 vs 900. CLK-LM is overweight. 1000kg vs. ~900-920. McLaren (bmw) F1 GTR long tail is overweight. 950kg vs. 900. The list goes on.
 
Some of it is not accurate, along with your fair share of glitches. (The GT40 is 1002 inches tall? The description clearly said its called the GT40 because its 40 inches tall) The F40 is also balanced incorrectly, the ultimate 90s supercar had a 50/50 weight dist. PD said nah, lets give it a 40/60 so players can drift it in a straight line.

Their doing what Top Gear said Italian manufacturers do, which is exaggerate their tech statistics.

PD: How much does your Aventador weigh?
Lamborghini: 150 pounds, and it has 10000hp, it comes with lasers as standard.
PD: -writing down on a notepad- okay, so lasers as well correct?

Yea I know most manufacturers can exploitive of weights, a lot weigh the car dry so not cooling or water, or fuel.

As said I've use scales to weigh my car so have exact weight, esp stripped with laxan glass, but has an added roll cage, so weight would be different from manufacturers anyway.
 
And then you have cars like the lister storm that has been ~300kg overweight for over a decade. Even the lister website lists the lower weight.
 
It was probably patched already but some cars were 1000 inches tall and 1000 inches wide. I don't know why they would even measure cars in millimeters, this ain't hot wheels.
 
Since we're talking about the weight of cars, I know the Lister race car's weight isn't correct, which saddens me...
The car is still useless. :(
 
And then there's the laughing stock of incorrect weights, Volvo 240 GLT wagon. weighs about 1200kg+ IRL and has 50/50 weight distribution.. But ingame, it's nose heavy, 1900kg tank.
 
They're operating off of stereotypes and image. If the car looks heavy and looks uncool, then it must handle lame and be heavy. If PD is doing that, they should make Alfa Romeo's break down every 2 miles and Tesla's burst into flames whenever you reach 60mph.
 
In my experience with Gran Turismo and research through pages like ultimatecarpage.com, the weight listed for the cars is without any kind of driver weight.

In my fairly extensive research about quite a few cars I've obsessed over and tried to recreate in the GT games, I've found that PD is very accurate in their power, weight and length/width/height measurements. PD isn't always right with it but I'd say they're spot on with 98% of the cars in the game.
 
Different versions of the game have different weights added for the drivers. Most the world is around 75-80kg, but American versions of the game add a 110kg driver. GT Auto also has gun racks available for the trucks as additional parts in their version too.

I was reading it and I was like yeah that sounds about right, when I got to the gun racks, I was like wait are you joking?

But I googled 110 kg, thats a 240 pd driver. The suspension is gonna blow on the car real quick
 
Some cars are accurate many aren't. Lamborghini is notorious for quoting the lightest possible weight for their car specs (dry weight) for all their vehicles, and this is how they are represented in GT. But you can easy fix things with ballast and a bit of research. All my Lambos are now carrying extra weight. fastestlaps.com is a good resource for car weights as tested, that is driver weight, fluids, etc.

Since we're apparently all about nationalistic stereotypes, do Canadian and European players get half of their winnings taken away to pay extra to the last place drivers, because everyone has to be made equal?

Haha lets not take this too serious, I live in America and I find this hilarious. Stereotypes only hurt when we want them to be.

In UK we have now adopted the US method anyway, so never mind that conundrum..

So, it means none of those cars got their weight and/or power corrected, right?

I always admired you plucky Brits, but if your looking to the US for units of measure, I know some people who don't even know how long a foot is.
