Carbon Offsets

This thread is for discussion of all things carbon offset. Do you use them? What are you opinions about them? What organization is your favorite? What is the latest news and development on the subject?

I'll start the ball rolling with this basalt concept which traps carbon dioxide in mineral form:

I have my own ideas about Carbon Offsets that I am not at liberty to disclose at this time.

John Oliver is not a fan of offsets, for pretty obvious reasons.

I still think it's possible to have a good offset, and a good place to invest. Realistically, dropping emissions is something that needs to happen, but offsetting emissions intelligently will ALSO be required.
