I'm shocked really some of the in-car cams are blurry some are black cardboard.

This is not what I expected.

Not impressed PD, this is what you were doing for an entire year? Cardboard in-car camera views?

Are you all seeing what I'm seeing?

Looks like were paying for any real car upgrades.

Wait they made it that detailed that you can tell it's cardboard. I can't wait to see it now.

Absolutely amazing old chevelle and super bee have black cardboard cut outs with no hood or anything. Its funny really.
But at least some have decent in car cam like the fire blade. Its pretty detailed. Why? Varon black cardboard, fireblade very detailed. Wow.

It's better than setting your head right on top of that Hemi V8 (Hood/Roof Cam)

You try to make detailed dashboards for 700+ different cars in under a year....

Best post ever..

Like he says, go get a CLK GTR race car and stick a very detailed interior in it..

I don't like in car views so I don't really care, but they actually had plenty of years to update graphics on the existing cars. When you look at what other games can do from scratch in half the time there is no justification for the "standard" vehicles. I love playing GT and the parts that are great are really great, but I don't think ridiculous excuses should be made as if I'm some brainwashed fanboy that thinks a game company is perfect. If everyone grovels at the feet of a game company no matter what they do instead of offering criticisms, all you'll get is more of the same in the future. They'll know they can dish out whatever garbage they want and their little lapdogs will eat it up and think it's perfect. Personally I prefer to live life without blinders or delusions.

They had 6 years.

How much time to you think it takes to design an entirely new physics engine as advanced as the one used in the game? Being the first sim(That I know of) that has rain in it. Figuring out how the grip of cars change depending on how much and how long it has rained. Not to mention different grip depending on tires, surface etc.

Then there's the licensing, and the fact that Sony pushed PD to implement full 3D. It takes a lot of time to make cars as detailed as the Premium ones, not to mention getting your hands on the real model, so you can get a rough computer model of it.

At the same time, PD needed more money for the game, so they had to work on what was essentially a huge demo(Prologue). It's also the first time PD worked with online features, and the PS3 has always been harder to develope games on than other platforms.

All this and much more needs to be done by aprox 140 people, each having their own task.

The game certainly isn't perfect, but I'd say they did pretty damn good, considering that they had to do a lot of things from scratch.

To be honest with you, I expected cardboards. I mean, do you think PD is like Ubisoft or Rockstar, with like 300 employees? If they had to make all cars premium, it would take ages and a 2 or 3 disc video game.

Actually, you wouldn't need more than one disc. Blu-Ray discs have a huge capacity, and it's still getting bigger.

When GT5 was released people complained about the lack of interiors in Standard cars and it was suggested to Kaz that the PSP style blacked out cockpits should be used. So they've added it now. IMHO it's better to have some sort of cockpit view than none at all.

Only seen the in-car cam of the FGT which looks surprisingly good. I am not holding my breath that the same will be in store for my Opera S2000, my Sauber C9 or any of my other often used standards.

Tested the cockpit view for the Sauber. I chuckled. The open wheelers and the LMPs are looking faboulos though!

👍

Sounds like they should have hired a few more people. I cannot imagine the joy people would have around here, if another game pulled some crap like this, regardless of the reasoning.

They didn't, they are humans. Humans need breaks.

Not when they are getting paid to make and complete a game.
However it was unfinished so I think many people were expecting for all cars to turn premium slowly and eventually.

True! 👍
I expected that it would look like in GT PSP, so I wasn't surprised. But at least a few standard cars look pretty sweet in cockpit view, like Caterham, C60 race car etc.

The caterham is practically premium. All it needs is working gauges and wheels.

To everyone complaining-they didn't have to include it at all. You should be appreciative of the post-release effort put forth in this game. There will always be features not implemented or applied as one would like them to be but overall you've gotten your moneys' worth out of this game as it was shipped, yet still feel the need to complain about FREE updates/content/features. If you feel you haven't gotten your moneys' worth out of it then take your copy to gamestop, sell it and buy a better game.

Yes it's only a black view and I'd prefer a premium Veyron or a premium Saleen etc. but at least I can have a more realistic view than on a bonnet or behind the entire vehicle.

On the roof you mean? But yeah I agree - raced a Jag XJR9LM at the Nurburgring last night and even with the black placeholder cockpit it greatly improved the sense of immersion.

Yet they still forgot tire pressures, plus brake fade. The problem with GT5 is that it was developed under poor management by PD, who did not prioritise correctly. Thank goodness Spec II and the upcoming DLC is awesome. That plus this great community is the only way I'm not moving to Forza.

They way i see the standard cockpits is like this.

Word is, they are shaped properly. Ie mirror placement and shape, pillar shape and location, dash shape. Etc.

Maybe these are first steps in creating better looking cockpits. The skeleton is now in place for it.

Maybe in future patches we will be getting more detailed cockpits with each patch. ?

Let's hope so. I would be delighted to see standards slowly being transformed into premiums over multiple updates. I like new cars, but I would prefer if PD updated important standard models first.
