Hello everyone,

Last night I received a call from a friend who told me that in his neighborhood, on the other side of town from where I was, a Carrera GT was parked. I was nearly an hour away when I received the call, and thirty minutes later I showed up - to find this.

A few months ago I saw one of these on the street and no one believed me, for obvious reasons. I've called this car "the reason I carry my camera everywhere" and, indeed, I've finally done what I set out to do.

The vehicle was parked at the corner of Florida Avenue and Ogden Street in Denver, Colorado, in an unassuming, young family-oriented, liberal neighborhood with low crime and even fewer rich people. There's exactly two Carrera GTs in Colorado, both silver (both registered to the same owner, I believe) - this one had Arizona license plates (438-SHJ) from a Scottsdale dealer.

For those of you not in the know, the base price of this vehicle is $448,300, and it uses a 605-horsepower 5.7-liter V-10, while weighing just 3250lbs. I'm not entirely sure, but I believe yellow to be one of the rarest colors; there may be just a handful of yellow ones in the country.

Behold:

Anyway, let this be a lesson to everyone: always carry a camera, digital or otherwise. You never know what you might see.

I agree, I try and carry my digital camera as much as possible. But when I don't, the rare cars appear. :ouch:

That's a very nice find there. 👍 The rarest I've seen on the road it a Mercedes-McLaren SLR, and that was the time I never brung my camera with me. :(

👍 That's amazing

Did you get any weird looks while taking the pics though? :p

When I was taking the pictures, just two vehicles drove by, including a 1996-1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee whose male driver and female passenger never even glanced at the sports car, worth about 65 times the value of their car and about two and a half times the value of the house it was parked in front of.

As far as I'm concerned, I couldn't care less if someone looks at me funny when taking pictures of something that special. I looked inside the house, but it didn't appear as if anyone was home - even if they were, if you own the rarest of supercars, you have to kind of expect it, you know?

Honestly, if I owned a supercar, I wouldn't really park it on a street. You've got the big risk of it being stolen.

Let's pretend you do somehow manage to steal the thing. How the hell would you get away? How would you steal it in the first place? If my $70000 Mercedes has a built-in immobilizer I'm certain a $450,000 Porsche has an automatic authority-alert system or some crap. Maybe not, but you get my point.

Yeah - I don't know its story. Just sitting there in a neighborhood known for its trendy mom-and-pop coffee shops, populated mostly with Kerry-Edwards supporters and Passats and Jettas. The car itself is really cool, but its location makes it one of the most unbelievable sights of my life.

It doesn't take much for it to get scratched by a passing car though :(

Another reason. People have a tendacy to scratch or dent cars, especially ones that stand out. So do you want the hassle of touching up your paintwork or touching up a dent in your door all the time? I wouldn't.

I'm talking about normal people that pass by too. Someone could just get out a key and scrape it right along the car.

True supercar owners know their car is meant to be driven and don't worry about every little possible scratch or dent. :)

That's only in the case you have the money to back it up, if all your economies went into it then you'll be alot more freaked out even in a banal situation.

Maybe in Pompey ;)

The difference between the UK and Italy for example is in the UK if you leave a Ferrari in the street someone will key it. In Italy someone would clean it! :sly:

BTW. That is surreal.
1) A yellow Carrera GT?
2) In that neighbourhood! :dopey:

I had no idea they even came in yellow. I've seen silver on the streets, and I think black, but that's it.

I'd like to see a white one out of them.

However, yes, they do come in a few colors. 6 in fact.
~Black
~Guards Red
~Fayence Yellow
~Basalt Black
~Seal Grey
~GT Silver

I personally, love the red.

Wow. That is unreal. Getting there in 30 minutes! The location, I mean, not the car. It's worse than the yellowstone paradoxes I keep seeing. (Ford GT in the middle of NOWHERE, about halfway to Jackson from Salt Lake, and the F360 I saw in Yellowtone)

True supercar owners drive their supercars and don't worry every time another vehicle comes close. :)
Hear, hear. Werd. I hate garage queens. They built them to drive, people. Hard.

I've seen a Carrera GT in person, but A) it was silver, and B) it was in a Porsche dealer.

By the way, I love how you were an hour away but you got there in 30 minutes.

IMO, its sad when the cars are sold to the owners of 50-Cent, and all them over ruiners.

1 rapper is cool though. Typical Escalade, but he has a Shaguar. He didn't like the bling bling. He was on MTV Cribs, buts that all I can remember. :grumpy:

I want to set out and find all the cars that only had 300 miles or so that were bought by rappers, movie stars, etc. etc., and push the cars to have at least 1,500 miles. Sadly, I can't.

Jadakiss is a rapper who likes cars (XJ220, Aston Martins, Lamborghinis), Wyclef Jean also has a nice car collection (McLaren F1 included).

M5 I've already seen 2 GT's in the Detriot area. A grey one and a black one. However I didn't have a digital camera so therefore you pwnd me .

Wyclef Jean's McLaren F1 is a regular driver. Not only that, he lets kids crawl all over it.

Yeah, I have pics of the first lotus exige they made. I was at a car gathering and it just pulled up so I was like "WOAH!" and went to office depot to buy a disposable cam. I got pics of me inside it and everything. The owner's wife was so nice, and he was cool too. I also got pics of a viper Venom 650R that showed up a little later as well. apparently all the viper owners decided to steal the show with a get together, only to have the 650R as the icing on the cake. that thing was badass, but I guess it's no GT. Maybe i'll see if I can scan them some time.

anyway, I've yet to see a GT in person. excellent find, sir. I'm jealous.

yeah, well, I saw an M-Coupe yesterday... so bleh!

Yeah. I meant the ones alot hear about and the ones you see.
Very surprising to see many unheard of rappers who actually sing about something different from the ones you hear a **** load of.

It was one of those defining moments in life where you just know you have to do the right thing.

M Coupes are everywhere - this one takes some effort. Rarest consumer-market BMW in the last twenty years? 850CSi, followed by this guy. Only the fourth one I've ever witnessed, and I haven't seen one since. M Coupes are for lightweights. :p
