I was always fascinated with the SL500 in GT Concept or GT3 ( I can't remember which one it was that I discovered it in ) becuase it went forwards without me having to use the accelerator, my pallie said automatic cars do this.

What cars go forwards without me having to accelerate in GT5 ( and other GT Games if thats allowed to be answered?)

Thank you in advance :)

All cars with an automatic transmission, very difficult to list them for me. :D Don't know the english term, translated from German it's called "crawling" and happens in real life too.

I guess its GT trying to keep it real.

cars in general have to have their engines running at some rpm to keep from stalling.
In manual cars you have the clutch to keep the gear disengaged when at standstill.

Automatic trannys, the gears always engaged, so you have to keep your foot on the brake to keep the car from moving.

The only car ive experienced this "realistic auto tranny" is the R35 GT-R. You can actually see that a bit of the accelerator is pressed even at standstill.

Automatic transmissions do this because the engine is connected to the transmission via a torque converter. Basically, this means that there's no need for the engine to be disconnected from the transmission at any time, because even when the car is stopped (when the transmission is stopeed), the engine can continue to run. This means that the engine is connected to the transmission all the time (except for when at reverse or neutral).

Manuals on the other hand use a clutch to connect the engine to the transmission. Unlike a automatic, the engine cannot run if the car is stopped. The clutch must be fully disengaged when the car is stopped. That means that the engine is not connected to the transmission whatsoever.
