Just did an online race on Nurburgring Time change, I was racing against a Toyota Minolta 88C or whatever it is, and it had mud caked on the side's and some on the back.

There was no mistaking it the car was filthy, this is the first time I have seen this in the game, and I don't think I have ever been able to get my cars dirty in races, or practice.

Yes but when you finish the race and go to the garage the car seems clean again just like when you damage a car in the next race its oik again.
The car wash is there in my opinion (based on my experience in previous GT) to help better the handling of the fast cars because dirt affects aerodinamics even if just after the race all the dirt seem to vanish mysteriously
And when a car wash doesnt help anymore you have to revise the chassis

Wash - handling - if it doesnt help - revise chassis
Oil - power - if it doesnt help - revise engine

My Minolta gets pretty dirty. I let my B-Spec guys use it for endurances and wash it every few races. Dirt does accumulate.

Would be awesome if it would stay after the races, the dirt effects actually look really cool, just like the dirt on the tires when you drove through grass or gravel.

Yeah, keeping dirt on the cars could be so cool, if you ended up after 100 races or something with a mud covered car! I hope they do that with an update, the car wash would be better then as well :)

Amén! PD, listen to that.

My dream its to have a completelly dirty Gun Gray Mettalic R32 GT-R with black wheels...

Pretty scary eh? Remember GT1? I used to do that. The cars used to get matte after some races :D

When you view a car in your garage as of right now it will always be clean, but if you watch in B-Spec, after a couple races, especially if Bob get's knocked off the track, your car will get dirtier and dirtier. Watch the sides for the most effect. I like this, but the shadow rendering is terrible and makes the sides of the car look really bad because it tries to shadow the dirt... otherwise, yes cars get dirty, and you should wash them every 5-10 races or so. (or more often is longer races ie after every endurance race)

I noticed in the short races I create in arcade that the car gets dirtier in the rear area than when racing in dry conditions.

This!

I've noticed that during the B-Spec races the car gets really really filthy... it's disappointing that it then looks so clean in the garage.

Personally I'd like two things;

a) Persistent damage between races
b) Persistenet dirt between races

I know most people will hate the damage thing, I just think it would be cool to decide how much to spend to get your car through the next race.

Dirt on cars seems to have several bugs to me.

- It doesn't build up any more over a certain amount.
- Most of the dirt a car accumulates during a race is not retained (especially in dirt/rally races).
- Cars in the garage always look perfectly clean. They look dirty in the demo mode, GT Auto and races.
- It appears there are some bugs in how dirt accumulates especially on certain cars (Mazda Furai for example), with strange dirt spots that don't make sense.
- Dirt is never too much opaque or covering. Light reflects on it to a certain extent. It seems translucent.
- In general dirt accumulation seems too slow.

My X2010 gets very filthy in the endurance races, the GT logo on the side would get hard to see and it'll almost be completely covered in dirt on the lower half of the car. I took it into GT Auto thinking that it would look very filthy but it's clean again once you have finished a race so a car wash isn't really necessary, hope persistent dirt is coming via future updates...

The Peugeot 908 accumulated lots of what I assumed to be rubber dust from tyres on it after the Indy 500. It didn't look like dirt, and it shouldn't have seeing as it's very hard to go off track on the dirt there. Found that pretty cool.

Also, the Lamborghini Murcielago SV got very dirty after an hour around Eiger short. It had dirt streaking from front to back on the car.

Finally people are starting to notice dirt on the cars, a few weeks ago there were other threads/posts of people not believing me and others when we posted about Dirt on cars throughout races.

I have yet to see dirt, maybe I'm not looking close enough. Damage does happen, just very minor. For instance I have a 69 camaro that if I slam into a barrier, the hood is clearly bent, just a little curve to the left or right. Take a look from the view over the hood while driving. I have also seen a vew bashed rear blinker signals.

Body damage is gone every race for me. I have tried to wash quite a few cars, but it doesn't let me, figured they didn't complete that feature either. I am hoping they don't add dirt or anything else so we don't have to open the maintenence menu which is another retarded & unnecessary :45 task, like getting a car out of the delivery truck, 1...car.....at......a......time..........👎

I agree, it's the same with the damage even though the latest patch seemed to improve the damage rate. It's odd, they have these cool features, dirty cars and a cool damage system for Premium cars, but they have the settings down too low to properly show them off. Why is this?

There must be a reason. Hopefully a future patch will speed these things up and keep them there until you fix/wash your car. I would absolutely love it if they do this!
