Cars idling?

How is it possible in the "best racing game", the "real driving simulator" and a game of 2010 for the cars to not be able to idle? When you put a car in N a release the throttle the rpm's drop to 0 and the engine does not make any sound at all. It is trully unbelievable how PD can make such idiotic mistakes and still be praised as the best.
 
Haven't you heard? In an effort to reduce their carbon footprint, PD fitted all the cars in GT5 with an engine auto cutoff to reduce harmful emissions when the engine is idling. Do you hate the planet or something??? :)

Best "racing" doesn't have a feature when the car is not moving? irony at it's finest.

Is it that big of a deal? Pretty sure when they were making the game they didn't think "What should we do when they park the car on the race track?"
 
I'm sure it only happens when you take your foot off the clutch? It does for me anyway, then as soon as I put my foot back on the clutch, the engine starts again.

Which car?? some cars shut off to save fuel such as a Toyota Prius? Have not come across this in any of my cars. Have you stalled it (clutch off and in gear?)
 
this game is for racing, beat lap times, going faaaast etc, take photos..

the only ironic thing left is someone asking for guns to kill yout opponents, in a spanish forum i see someone asking if you can rollover the spectators :S
 
My cars idle what the heck is the OP smokin? Really had to make a thread about a feature you obviously can't identify? Double facepalm!! Or double fail? Double failpalm!!! :D
 
I can hear engines at a standstill. Maybe he has his crappy tv speaker too low...Maybe he should change to the view behind the car..

Anyway, it is trully unbelievable how the original poster can make such an idiotic mistake, the idiot...

Iv`e stalled my Mach1 too,but i also can`t get it to sit there and idle either. I have a G25 and it wont sit there in neutral and burble away. I pull up with my foot on the clutch and the engine just lose`s RPM and drops do nothing. If i blip the throttle it revs up and you can drive fine but it just wont idle. Must have something to do with stalling it initially,after that it wont idle again. Does anyone have any ideas? The OP isn`t the only one with this issue :dunce:
 
In license tests, if I didn't put my foot on the gas before the start, I could hear it idling. For proof of this, go to the Top Gear Test Track in the special events, and pick the beginner event in the Samba Bus. It's a loud car, and I'm sitting on the track right now idling in gear at about 750 rpm. If I disengage the clutch, it stalls. Weird how it works, but the cars do idle.

Also noticed that after I put it in gear again, and stop with it in gear, it stalls. It actually slowly drops revs to 0 as the car slows, it's kind of funny, lol.
 
if your rpm's are at zero, the engine has stalled because you let off the clutch doing 0mph. If you don't have a G25/G27, you cannot stall the engine.
 
Haha, this isn't all people are complaining about. This is an example of how many things people are complaining about...........

The reason your engine dies is probably because you left it in gear and it stalled....... you know.... like a real car does ;)

Anyway back to 787B idle....

It's definately a petty thing, but the OP is correct.

As soon as you activate clutch mode, if you stop the car and put your clutch in, you need to hold the throttle or the engine will stall. It does not idle correctly if clutch mode is on, which is unrealistic.

Its also annoying because you cant hear the vehicle idle, which is sometimes enjoyable, as we can see from the above posts.

Imported from PSP most likely, but it's not that hard to get that money since the game has been out 3 days now. I had half a million and that was just from playing special events and I'm only on level 14 in about 4 hours of actual play, I spend most of my time in arcade mode.
