Some cars give a better feeling of power/speed/G-force and we all know GT5 has a rather dull, boring, tame representation of driving so finding ones that showcase speed can be difficult.

What cars do you guys think give the best impression of power and G-forces? I think the ZR1 does a decent job of this just make sure you don't put race exhaust on it 👎

What other cars do you guys think do a good job of showcasing speed?

I believe the X1 in the rain in cockpit view has the best look to it.. But also I would have to disagree with you about the feeling of power/speed etc.. Yeah you can't physically feel it, but atleast the didn't do that fake a$$ reality distortion stuff like the NFS series lol

To be honest i think GT5 would be much better with shift 2's G-force model, Without the motion blur i think it would make for a great driving experience with GT5 physics.

GT5 is the single most dull driving experience when it comes to speed. I don't know if you have ever driven a fast car but i promise you 900hp puts your ass back in the seat which is something GT5 doesn't show you.

Check this out, Forget about the funny turning physics and just look at the representation of G-force and speed. GT5 physics + NFS shift G-force mechanics = one of the best racing games ever made imo.

Not to keep arguing but.. Yes that power puts you in the back of your seat but I know my vision of my surrounding doesn't start blurring between 60-160mph.. Yes I DO AGREE to an extent that maybe simple things like the light post lights in SSR7 should show more of a tracer effect at 180mph + .. But I believe the last NFS I played the scenery started blurring at about 60MPH.. Which is WAYYY to soon.. Maybe GT6 will bring us that happy "realistic" medium on where the scenery becomes distorted :)

Y'know, even when I race, in real life, the sensation of speed is barely noticeable.

Need for Speed overdoes it. Forza over does it.

The only thing, is that the driver "figure" (the guy who is shown to be driving the car) shifts quite slowly, turns the steering wheel quite slowly, and, in cockpit view, doesn't get affected by heavy braking/turning.

Of course, if you REALLY want the feeling of being in an RX-7 drifting, you could have a friend hit you with a baseball bat.

My friend took me for a run in his RX-7 FD3S, and, I almost smashed my helmet to bits, off of the door pillar. My neck and head still hurt.

So, it's your choice, whether or not you want the fully-realistic experience of being smashed to pieces, or not.

I just really wish that it weren't so easy to smash your head off of the side-door of an RX-7 while driving in it.

I think if PD let the cockpit camera move around more and have more room to play with the G-forces it would go along way. Right now it's like they bolted the camera on a rollcage instead of on the driver, you know what i mean?

Lol well we can both definitely agree on that :D .. Have you tried arcade mode with a PS Eye?

I literally lol'd at this, i'm picturing myself driving with my wheel and having someone hitting me in the neck on the corresponding side when starting a drift :D :D

 I'm envisioning having to wear a helmet, fire-proof racing suit, gloves, and racing shoes, having to close the door behind you, when you get in, putting your seat-belt on, starting the motor and.... Ah, even adjusting the radio station (should one choose to listen to music.)

In my case, when I'm driving on the street, legally, I am listening to the biggest, baddest dubstep around.

When I'm on a track, I turn the music right off. I then proceed to leave the subwoofer at the side of the track.

Surprisingly, though, it's not when the drift starts, that the g-forces will cause you to hit your head on the door pillar. It's when the drift ends, that your neck will be snapped.

This video is actually quite accurate. The RX-7 FD3S on Nankang tires hurt. Even just when he went 80% throttle, the boost hit me like a freaking American football player. I'm imagining what the GT-R would be like, and I'm astonished. I imagine, then, that it's like being hit by a train.

Oh yeah I wasn't even thinking of ending the drift :( .. I was thinking about that first flick, I've only toyed with a little drifting in a 79 aspen R/T.. I had to whip the "fudge" out of it to break it loose and get it sideways enough, it has body roll like a damn dodge caravan, lmao.. You don't get too much of a "whip" at the end when your the driver :D

^ Unless you're Jeremy Clarkson.

But, yes, the RX-7 FD3S is quite a stiff car, you're right. That means that it changes direction much quicker.

I mean, my Accent's not bad, and it's still mind-blowing enough in the corners, as stock, but, the RX-7, and my old karts etc. are just staggering.

^ lmao I remember that :D .. But this was the car I'm on about, I do have a fogger nitrous system, I thought about spraying it so I didn't have to whip it as hard but I then thought how much money I had into the motor and how far the car would have went off "the track" if i screwed up lmao..

^ Only in Indiana.

On a related topic, only in Canada, would I remind you to keep it tidy on the roads, and floor it on the tracks. :)

Clarkson's not the type for health & safety, and he's always getting hurt. 💡 Maybe the eye infection and injured neck from Fuji is just a sign of how often he gets hurt, for not listening to health & safety.

^ then there's this.

I have a PS eye but i never hooked it up mostly because i'm not using a wheel and i never saw the advantages of it.

PD should put in a feature in the next update that let's us adjust the "stiffness" of the in car cam. GT5 is dying anyways so give us complete freedom of our driving experience and then move on the GT6.

personally i like the Ford gt 40 test car, the one in the dealership for 3.6m or something.

it has amazing sense of power and torque, almost unmanageable, esp with all aids off and maxed up with improvements. The sound is amazing too. Very bassy V8 sound.

I like the way the camera very slightly turns to help you see the approaching corners.
The Karts are by far the best

I've not yet found any particular car that gives anywhere close to an accurate representation of speed. The environment we drive around in just doesn't look like you're going past it at the same rate as the speedo would have you believe.

I was watching a replay of one of my SSRX runs in the ZR1 and from the "in-car, out past the driver and through the window" view it looked like it was moving at around 30mph, (based on how fast objects were passing by) yet the speedo was reading 245mph. This despite being very close to the walls and the lights flashing past the window.

(Edit)
The only time GT5 has ever looked fast to me is when I've been playing from a longer distance away from my TV. I was in the kitchen and the TV is around 25 feet away from me in the corner of the lounge.

I've notice Go-Karts give a good sense of speed especially on Nurburgring

Absolutely. Those, the F1 cars, and the LMPs. Personally I think it's a matter of track design, not car. I don't get any sense of speed on the Eifel circuit or the Autumn Ring, but at Spa or Suzuka I'm usually gripping pretty good.
