race cars must not be shiney.

o_O Huh?

Can we please use thumbnails instead of img after img? I'm not complaining out of bandwidth reasons, I'm complaining that at 1024x768, my browser window winds up twice the width of my screen because of some of the pics that get posted, and so all the text gets wrapped badly and reading becomes a chore.

Another useless thread. The game isnt out and if for some reason you little mind thinks the cars a too SHINEY then either dont buy the game or make your TV darker.

How do you post it in thumbnail form?

Making your TV darker isn't going to do much o_O

They're called sponsors, they pay money to see their name on a car, like I said before to Biased Turkey here. Thus, they like the car to be clean and subsequently displaying their logo as prominently as possible. I'd also wager it has an effect on aerodynamics.

Sure thing, race cars are shiny at the start and they should be.....

We could start a scientific discussion on how dust affects areodynamics of the cars, but it was done before. Eventhough a rougher surface is not affecting it in a negative way all together (sharks, golfballs, swimsuits etc...). The weight is more negative!

On topic; for me the cars (non racers) are too shiny.

Why would they bother, it is just going to get all grimed up any ways.
Race cars are always cleaned to perfection for the start of the race... 1 b/c of sponsor logos (as Eagle said), and also you want to make sure that all the intakes and ducts are clean (eg in F1 you don't want brake dust or dirt all over the side of the car potentially coming off and going into the air intake, clogging up the filters, etc).
